Actually forget The Postman. Its basically the story to Chrome Hounds. I am fully behind this. When do I get my giant robot? All hail Morskoj.Last edited by The_Real_Crunk; 01-10-2009, 05:18 AM.

Re: 2012. Get ready to live out The Postman.
I think it would be cool to die during the end of the world. Can't be made fun of for that.
"What killed you, sir?"
"The end of the world."
"I see."
"What about you?"
"I... um... choked on a doughnut."Last edited by American Hero; 01-10-2009, 01:44 PM.________________

Please don't use Fox news as a source, makes the topic kookie when it's actually real.

Re: 2012. Get ready to live out The Postman.
There was sufficient research behind Y2K as well; the reason it didn't become the disaster many had feared was because there were teams of computer engineers, PBX engineers, programmers, ect. working their asses off to help utility, defense, oil, and many other industries get their machines ready for it. Y2K was a solvable crisis and was indeed solved.Originally posted by Denethor View PostOnly there's sufficient research behind it this time.
Solar flares being able to take out our infrastructure are a very real threat(if we have one of the size predicted, it can cause enough damage to our infrastructure to shut it down completely), but also a very unlikely one within our lifetimes(somewhat of a higher risk than Yellowstone erupting, but much lower chance of occuring than say, a Category 7 hurricane that it wipes out multiple major U.S. cities in the gulf coast at once, an event which has yet to occur in the history of the U.S. and probably won't within our lifetimes).
I wouldn't be afraid of it, but it is a possibility and being at least mentally prepared for such a change in lifestyle that would result from it wouldn't be a bad idea. The unnecessary felling of a tree, perhaps the growth of centuries, seems to me a crime little short of murder." ~ Thomas Jefferson
