    11th Doctor --- What's your take?

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...Time-Lord.html

Knocking down the 5th Doctor by 3 years, Matt Smith will be the youngest one ever, at age 26.

I think it's pretty cool that they chose someone much less recognizable for the new Doctor, it might allow a longer time frame to develop the character.

Any other Whovians have input on this?

I'm just getting into the Tenant stuff. I don't like him compared to Eccleston thus far. =(

    This new guy looks laaaaame.

Well I was kind of hoping not to find out any info until the change happened.

So what do you guys think of Matt Smith thus far?

I was ridiculously worried at first, seemed like a total cheeseball, but I think he's doing pretty well.

Plus, he plays really well off that scottish firecracker.

I like him, but I especially like Amy Pond. Wonderful Scottish accent. ~

Matt Smith as the Doctor is close enough to be comfortably familiar to Tennant's Doctor while etching out his own version that is at least acceptable to the current format of the show.

I think Doctor Who is way too silly and shoddily made. I like some coherent stories with my sci-fi, please.

I never totally got into Tennant, I guess because he suffered a bit in comparison to Eccleston (and what'd you leave it all for, eh Chris? A handful of eps in Heroes, back when it didn't suck, and not much else on this side of the pond). Haven't seen the new guy's stuff, but judging by the picture, looks like a ponce. Of course, the Doctor is one a bit, so maybe he'll be at least a good placeholder until another great Doc comes round.

I don't disagree with you, but one of my favorite things about the series has always been that the creators are never afraid just to take their imagination and run with it. Sometimes it comes out silly and campy, but it's always imaginative and fun. I completely understand how people can be turned off by the show's often low level of polish overall (in terms of writing, acting, effects, etc.), but I've always found the show charming, and every once in a while it'll surprise me with legitimately transcendent moments of excellence.

Anyhow, I'm enjoying the new series and I think Matt Smith is pretty decent.

I like the new Doctor, probably my favorite recent one.

This season also has some amazing episodes, the Weeping Angel 2-parter was awesome.

                            For sure!

I've been rewatching episodes, though, and the BBC edits out scenes after the episodes have been aired.

Like, they edited out Rose and Doctor-Clone kissing, Amy doing some stuff, etc. I guess some of them aren't terribly important scenes, but some character development and whatnot.

I personally preferred Tennant. I liked the "Satan Pit" two-parter and the two-parter parallel universe episode (they lost the black guy in those episodes) Eccleston was simply too dry and lacked the personality that I like in Tennant.
