I would recommend the RPG Maker Pavilion, within the RMXP section of the RPGM Workshop. There should be a topic called "Battles / Shops". That should be a good place to ask people what you want to know.
So, what would you like to know?
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."
Both battles and shops are simple to create in their basic forms. Frankly, you shouldn't need any help unless you're trying to do something especially complicated.

All you need to play is a computer, no outside program necessary!
Yeah, these things are very simple. Just make your monsters in the database then when creating a map you can select what monsters will appear and how often they will appear.
As far as making a shop, it is just an event. On the event page you might add some text like "welcome to my shop" or something, the next thing on the page should be "Open Shop Window" from there you can select what items are available at the shop and how much each one costs. You can create custom items in the database.
I'm gonna give it a shot here real soon. Right now I'm just tickled that I was able to make 2 levels of a home (starting point), and an outer graphic, complete w/ doors, a staircase between the two levels, and even a bedroom footlocker treasure chest. I was showing my wife today how to do what I have done so far, she is interested in writing a game with me. Sounds like we are on the same page, too! I will check in once I have made a small town and a shop. Maybe even a monster or two. I am a little disappointed in the lack of a default world map. I had to import one. I am probably just going to make it up out of a lot of smaller maps.
Should I run the basic storyline by here, or in the general discussion forum?
Um, hey gang. I am unsure, but I think I may have DL'd the "postal knights" version instead of the free trial. Is this a freeware version, or pirate, or what? I also would like to know if I continue making a game w/ this prog, is it uploadable and playable by other people? And where can I get a full on legal copy, if this is not legal? Local stores don't seem to have it, and ebay is bare. So is amazon.
You can get the legit version and then buy the license right from the source. However, it's the full 60 bucks there and I think the price has deflated quite a bit. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
RPG Maker XP is still $60. it has a 30 day trial though.
The postiality knights version is pirated, and many RPGM sites have banned it's use, and games made with it, and we are one of them. We won't help anyone with it, and we won't allow anyone to discuss any projects they're making with it, and we certainly won't play any games made with it.
Follow Hito's link, play around for 30 days, and if you like it, buy it.
I don't know if it will read the project file from the postiality knights edition, as the pirated software is rather buggy and has numerous compatability problems with scripts.
Well, poop. This is quite a pickle. I ain't got 60 bux to spare @ the moment. I may just use this version to get used to the mechanics, get my storyline straight, and maybe I can buy a copy if I get a tax return. Thanks for the info guys, I have not meant to transgress any forum rules. I can suspend any more discussion until I am "legit", if need be.
since you obviously intend to get the real version, I dont see any reason to suspend discussion or anything like that. if it's trated as an extended trial of sorts, I'm willing to look the other way for now. as long as you do buy the legal version when you can, of course.
