WARNING: This is a rant.
Time and time again since E3 I've heard complaining about Final Fantasy XIII going to be on both PS3 and Xbox 360. There are people who babble on about how Square-Enix should be "loyal to sony fans" and how a Final Fantasy game for "the first time" caught them completely off-gaurd. These people are complete idiots. For starters, this "loyalty" bull***** never existed. The first FF games (the official ones) came out on nintendo consoles, then moved on to sony consoles for games 7 through 12. There were some spin-off FF games, notably Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, that came out on nintendo consoles. Allso of note is the PC version of Final Fantasy 7, which had some improvements/faults the console version didn't have. There have been remakes of games 1 through 6 that came out on PSP/GBA/DS. so far, It seems to me that Square-Enix has been "loyal" to Nintendo.
Now, all of this leads up to the 1 game these whiners don't take into account: Final Fantasy XI. this was the 1st MMORPG in the series, which released on PC, PS2 and........ Xbox 360! FFXI was the first FF game on Microsoft's console, not the upcoming FFXIII, yet for some reason, nobody counts that as a "main title" in the series. Look, people, if it has "Final Fantasy" in the title followed by a roman numeral, but not a subtitle or a "-2" next to the roman numeral, and has major advertising and costs in the millions to develop, it's part of the main series. Final Fantasy is an RPG series that should be enjoyed by everyone, not reserved for a bunch of console-specific snobs.
EDIT: Fixed
