The Power of Video Game Suggestion

    http://kotaku.com/5032258/the-power-...on-+-mmmm-eggs

Since playing through Metal Gear Solid IV, I've gone through a dozen eggs a week. I never used to eat this many eggs, but there I am, nearly every morning, cracking open fresh ones into a hot frying pan, pausing to watch the egg white turn from translucent to opaque, humming a little song to myself. Hell, I never really ate eggs sunny side up before the damn game came out. I was a scramblin' man. Quick, easy, no fuss. What has this stupid game done to me?

Is this an isolated case, or have you folks ever found yourself eating, drinking, or doing things a certain way after seeing it in a game? I'm not talking purchasing large baskets of Axe deodorant due to an in-game ad here - we've all done that. I'm talking more subtle things here. Going on a fresh fruit kick after a Pac-Man marathon, or getting really into curry after watching the marathon curry cutscene in Xenosaga II? How much power do video games have over our daily habits? If only we had a comments section in which to discuss such things.
Here, we go. I KNOW you dweebs can relate. So spill the beans! Er, the eggs! :3

I'd often try things video game characters do but I found I don't like them. After MGS3 it was eating Calorie Mate. After Crisis Core it was squats. After GTA it was killing hookers with cars.

But I've been eating eggs and, er, running like Sonic!

After MGS3 I doubled my cigar smoking but then cut back again once my teeth started turning black. I also (still) eat my fish whole, head and tail.

The metal gear games also got me clearing my throat the way Hayter always grunts HRGHRGHFGHRHG

EDIT: I forgot after playing Shenmue I paused midway through drinking a soda to sigh loudly with one eye closed. I seriously did this for about a month and I feel like a huge dork because of it.

To this very day, if I ever see a turtle, I have to stomp on it.

I can't help but murder hookers after having sex with them.

I sometimes would imagine the social link think happening to me a la Person 3 in real life. Yeah. I obviously played the game a lot when I started to imagine my friends and my job as social links...

Seeing Old Snake puff away in MGS4 always made me want to smoke a cigarette.

During a marathon Meteos run with my buddy on the DS, whenever I had to use the facilities and sat on the toilet, I kept seeing different ways to arrange the tiles on the floor in order to eliminate them.

When I was in school I had my energy bar full and killed my Teacher with a shinkou Hadouken :<

Every time I play Final Fantasy XII I head down to the County License Bureau and try to get myself Smallswords and Light Armor 1 licenses.

I wonder why they keep kicking me out.

Ha ha ha! YES! I did that. So did my little brother. He never played the game, he just thought it was funny.

I think it's less about what games made me do and more about how they made me think. Playing Persona 3 made me more attentive to what other people are saying. GTA made me care a lot less.

After MGS3, I picked up random animals and called my nutritionist to ask how they taste.

After Persona 3, I started shooting myself in the head.

After God of War, I started jumping on top of cyclopses and stabbing at their eyes.

After SMT Digital Devil Saga, I started slaughtering and eating my victims!

When I was playing Wild Arms I was working at a restaurant, and I swear to god, when I needed something way across the kitchen my first thought was "I'll just send HANPAN to get it!"

When I first played Sims I always saw everyone with a little diamond above their head and gauged what their health bars were at.

Off subject a little, kinda...when I was younger(like...12, 13) I was into Dragonball and actually started an exercise routine to determine my power-level, I did 3 different exercises, push-ups(worth 25 points each), sit-ups(worth 15 points each) and jumping jacks(worth 5 points each), when I started I was below a PL of 1,000, when I finally stopped about 6 months later I was able to do 150 push-ups, 300 sit-ups and 700 jumping jacks in one session, totalling a power level of 11,750...yeah...I was awesome....

To this day, whenever Joe and I go to our Chinese restaurant we always get something from the 50-cent machines in the front of the store. After we do, we always say "Maybe I should get...another". Thank you Shenmue...thanks a lot.
