    FFTA2

    Out tommorrow.

I feel kinda stupid because I just bought FFT and a PSP, but OH WELL. I'm a Tactics-aholic.

Anyone else getting this at release?
    ...and that's why.

I'll be buying it but I'm banking on the fact that it's not boring and stupid as the first Tactics Advance.

I can't think of a bigger kick-in-the-balls than expecting another romp through the gritty political/theological laden Ivalice and instead getting 14 year old kid make-believe-alice with an annoying and easily exploitable judgement system (simon seyz YOU CANT ATTACK HOHO)

I'd prepare for a kick in the balls, Marcus.

Everything I've read suggests MORE OF THE SAME!

Can't they leave pastel adventuring pie-faced children in some other franchise, like Mana?

Obviously not. Square can't possibly ruin just ONE good franchise.

GI already gave it a review.

They said story-wise, it's more of the same pastel-childish stuff from FFTA that you'd expect.

But they also say that laws aren't as annoying, and the gameplay itself is improved greatly.

As long as it's not super-slow when attacking like in FFT. I will eventually.

I can look past the crappy storyline due to the fact that I enjoy the mechanics/gameplay/job changing system immeasurably more in FFTA than in FFT. Then again, I probably need to give FFT another chance. Before my first copy got stolen, I had over 120 hours invested in the game, and was only about 2/3 of the way through the main storyline. Granted, I played FFT for the first time about two years after that, but I was only able to make it about 2 hours in before losing interest.

Plus, the vieras are cuties, as is the little red-haired girl.

As for the question at hand, I just got a phone call from Gamestop, telling me a game was im tomorrow, and before it was even able to tell me which one it was, I got Gamestop on the other line, telling me ANOTHER preorder was in. I'm guesing (between switching between the two calls, I was not even able to hear which games they were) they were for FFTA2 and Alone in the Dark, So, yeah, I'll buy it, amd then probably never play it.

First they'd have to remember it.

I will give them a potion so they can remember.

I'll probably pick it up because I'm a FF whore, but it might just sit there with revenant wings.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

As far as I'm concerned, Vagrant Story was ruined with the Ivalice Alliance. I don't think the day will ever come when Square releases an official product that somehow connects the bunny women, sky riding, everyone-is-half-naked Ivalice of FF12 with the medieval pseudo-steampunk FFT/Vagrant Story Ivalice. If they do release something, it'll probably be a nuclear bomb or a crystal exploding or something since every Final Fantasy must have a magical big crystal in it.

I actually didn't mind the story or the battle system it was just the stupid laws. If they aren't game crippling anymore then I'll actually be *gasp* happy. Once you learned the actual sequence of laws in FFTA you could take easy advantage of them but it was still stupid to walk into battle and suddenly see "no magic for you!" and enemies followed the law 99% of the time. I could have sworn the game specifically balanced every battle in FAVOR of the enemy based on the current law.

I would totally buy it if I had a DS. This game was the only reason I ever considered picking one up. None of the other games on the DS looked interesting so I got a PSP. However, I find myself really wanting this game again... how much does a used DS go for now a days?

Refurbished for 80 for a DS phat, a used DS lite for 110...

In favor of the enemy? Whoa. You can change any law you want to cripple the enemy. I agree it was a bit too powerful of a system, but nowhere close to being in the enemies' favor. If / when it starts out in favor of the enemy (which I've really never seen since you should have people of all classes with varied abilities and should be able to take in a strong group no matter the laws) I'd argue that it's only to balance the fact that they can't change the laws in their favor.
