    In Bizarro World...

    Bums offer you money.

That's what happened to me this morning on my way to work. I saw a group of guys hanging out in an alley by my place. I said "good morning" and we introduced ourselves. Their names were Victor, Raoul and Stephen.

Victor says "I'm celebrating today, take this" and hands me a ten dollar bill. I told him it's okay, I have enough to get by, but he kept trying to give it to me. I politely refused, and told him my only concern was having enough money to take the bus to work. So then he reaches into his wallet and hands me a new 24 hour bus pass. I had to smile. I thanked him, wished them all the best, and continued on my way.

I was not prepared for that. There's a first time for everything, I suppose.

Feel free to share your recent bizarro experiences, or you can just make fun of me for posting a stupid topic.

Not really bizarre or recent but when I was a kid I saw some guy drop a $20 in the parking lot at the mall and I followed him in and gave it back to him. He said thank you and gave me $50. It was pretty sweet.

I got suspended five days without pay at work. Does that count?

RIGHT ON. It pays to be nice. You should keep a gift certificate for 1 free night in some hotel on you all the time to give to that guy if you ever see him again.

              That was an awesome story.

[EDIT] I just remembered something similar that happened to me when I was living in Seattle. This homeless guy that I'd seen a few times came up to me and gave me a key he'd found on the sidewalk. It was an antique-looking key that looked like it would open a coke machine from the 30's or something. I didn't have any money and he knew it, but I gave him a bracelet I'd just found on a different sidewalk. It looked like it had been run over in one part, but it said 'aquarius' on it, which made the guy flip out because he was an aquarius. I told him he could pawn it for the silver if that was what it was, but he said he would keep it. Right before I left Seattle I saw him again. I didn't get a chance to ask him if he still had that bracelet, but it looked like he was wearing it. I still had that key on my keyring until my car caught fire.

And then I realized that that had almost nothing to do with what happened to Nixon.

YOU READ IT...YOU CAN'T UNREAD IT!!!

I'll never forgive you. Not ever.

That's a cool exchange. I guess each item became a talisman of sorts. What the hell happened to your car?

I would love to hand out free hotel passes, but I'm not sure I can afford to do that. :P I usually just offer a few bucks or some food. One guy I met asked me if I wanted to hear a sea chantey he'd written. How could I resist?

i had an old guy ask me to help him cross the street and help him onto the street car. he was kind of flimsy and i helped him, but it was the most bizzar thing i ever did.

You initiated conversation with a group of guys hanging out in an alley?

                      Texas sure is weird.

even up here in the frozen north known as toronto walking by even a well lit ally with peeps in there would result in a mugging. i guess even the bums in texas have more then enough money and dont need to mug. damn oil.

One of them had already acknowledged my presence, so I felt obligated to respond. I didn't feel threatened in any way. Besides, we were in a visible area with people milling about nearby. The guys seemed more interested in determing who was going to go buy more booze.

                          It's morning in America.

Yeah, in most places, that would cause you be mugged, or asked to buy some drugs.
