I'm thinking about signing up for a PayPal account. Would any of you who use it say it's a good thing to use online? It's just that I'm a bit debatful on this choice.

Re: About PayPal...
You have 333 posts right now. And I don't think "debateful" is even a word, even when spelled correctly.
I tried to sign up for paypal, but I could not figure out how to tie the account to a debit card, even after poking around the site and my account for a good long while. It kept prompting me to tie it to my checking account.

Re: About PayPal...
I'm pretty sure you have to tie it to your bank account. And isn't your debit card just tied to your checking account anyway?
I've used PayPal for a long time. Mostly to buy things on eBay or send a little money to some friends of mine when they've been in a pinch and I happened to have a little to spare. Just recently received my first payments when I sold a couple DS games on eBay. I haven't experienced any problems with it or anything.I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

Re: About PayPal...
Just know that PayPal doesn't have to answer to the FDIC. So your money is NOT insured.

And as for the use of "debateful", I was at a loss of words. You must admit, it sounds liek a real word. (Shakespeare coined quite a few words and terms.)Last edited by 162; 03-27-2008, 01:55 PM.162, representing

Re: About PayPal...
Yup. Someone I knew had a few hundred in their paypal account taken away, because someone else accused them of illegal activities(which wasn't true of course). Even when they were cleared, paypal refused to give it back. Almost everything on the internet's gonna have horror stories though.Originally posted by John Mora View PostJust know that PayPal doesn't have to answer to the FDIC. So your money is NOT insured.

But if you don't deal with large amounts of funds(like ya know, put them back in your bank account?), it's great.Last edited by Crimson Knight; 03-27-2008, 04:07 PM.Quote of the moment - "When you cut down a tree, don't stand near it."

Re: About PayPal...
ive had some charge backs on my merchant account but i was able to force my money back outside of paypal since i had some connections with people related to the service i provided.
ive been screwed on ebay with fraudulent or deceptive wording to hide the true intent of a product, duping people into biding on a complete package that is really just a burned cd, or advertising an empty box.
i provided all the information to them regarding the chargeback, everything needed to pass onto the credit card company to prove that the person was scamming but they refused to care, sent me a generic reply and charged my account for the amount, plus 10 bucks per chargeback (was 3 since it took 3 transactions to get all the money through).
there was next to nothing to complain or any numbers to call so i gave up. if another good company had customer service and more realistic policies i wouldnt hesitate to switch, i prefer nearly every other option rather then paypal.
dont use paypal, just find some other way to get or give money.
