this is like that stupid question "which came first." to answer this question: both. robots turn into cars and cars turn into robots. the transformer part is in the middle of both solutions.

there for (3 pyramid dots) transformers are units that transform from one form to another and back again at will.

They were already robots. Then they came to earth and disguised themselves as cars and other devices since giant robots running around tend to draw attention. In Beast Wars they arrived on earth before there were cars so they had to disguise themselves as animals.

Unless you're talking about the movie, in which case there's both. Since the All-Spark could change cars and other stuff (like an Xbox or a Mountain Dew machine) into a robot. But I don't think the cartoons ever did that.

There's a "premium series" version of the leader megatron figure hitting stores now. same mold, but completely painted silver, gold, and black. no more of that ugly gray plastic.
