    Audiosurf

New steam game. It's great. It turns your music into a sort of race track and you go across it. Any of your music will work. Words don't describe it. Just play the demo and covert five songs for free. And it's only ten bucks for full purchase.

    That's a neat find, I like it.

I was involved with the beta. Didn't know they'd be distributing through steam.

It is pretty fun. It creates a sort of puzzle out of whatever music you put in but it's got its flaws. Slow songs are boring and don't make for interesting gameplay and outside of comparing scores online, there's really nothing to do once the novelty of collecting colored blocks to the tune of your favorite songs wears off.

But 10 bux is an excellent price for what you get. Did they increase the length cap to 25 minutes? The beta was limited to only 10.

Yeah I was playing the beta too. It kept me interested for about 20 minutes. Its neat how it makes the little race track thing, but the block collecting thing gets really boring.

          I concur.

lol, from what I've seen here and other boards it really depends on your taste in music. I listen to ska, so every song is worth replaying and replaying (try out streetlight manifesto!) because the game is great at simulating motion and it gets really intense. But if your taste in music doesn't work well with audiosurf, you won't have as much fun.

                It works best with Techno.

Well... Downloaded the game, steam, and all that other crap. Even the Quest 3d viewers package.

                  Still won't work.

                  yay.

EDIT: Got it to work by installing the Half-Life demo... Odd...

                  However it's very cool.

So I've listened to highwinds stuff before I actually got the CD, but I thought it'd be fun to use audiosurf on my first time really..."listening" to it.

And uh...it's amazing. You really get in to the music.

My favorite is Prayer for Patience. After the "I'll be here just the same!"...what a rush.

Five bucks and I might buy this. It's good, not great though.

Playing the main theme Jurrasic Park theme is beyond awsome when gliding around.

If you can run half-life 2 on low settings, you can run this game on high settings.

You guys need to play this while listening to Dragonfarce... er, Dragonforce. It's pretty much a straight drop down and all the blocks fly past you before you can even register their colors.

any music sped up would do that though, wouldnt it?

I played "You're a Pirate" for funzies. It did that.

I find slower more epic songs to be more fun though. If only because you can hear that the blocks actaully go to the beat.

I'm glad it comes with the Orange Box sountrack, cause then I can play that neat drum song from TF2, and that song from when you fight the antlion swarm in Episode 2.

Also, Daft Punk is great for this.
