    Many, many, many plans.

I'm really starting to enjoy the story of my game. I'm getting so into it, that I am already planning a sequel, and a re-make of the first one. ^^ The content of the sequel will remain a secret until I distribute the actual game. As for the re-make... Well I know that the original won't be the best since it's also my first game, but according to JPS it's a good story and shouldn't be ruined due to rushing. Besides when has a more streamlined version of a game NOT been welcomed?

Anyway, I'm working on some skills, and want to know if anyone would like to help me make some. My current Classes are the Acolyte, Attican Knight, and Spell Weaver. (Swift Fighter, Tank, and Magician respectively)

Changed my mind about the cameos. Only JPS gets one.

It's not necessarily character cameos, though. I'm currently only doing one cameo with JPS in it. I'm going to find some words that meet the initials of his name and turn it into a location. Eaaaster Egg! ^^ I realize that if I let the cameos run rampant, it'll be a lot more like the message board, and a lot less like the RPG.

...I just figured out what JPS is going to be.

Hey could I have a cameo appearance? "Lord Cohliani" is the perfect name for somebody evil!

Already got all my evil villains... I'll think of a good way to incorporate you.

Really looking forward to your game!! But yeah, like JPS said, don't rush it. Keep tinkering until you're really happy with your game, and then release it. If you do a Demo, that won't need to be so streamlined, and it's certainly nice to have something physical released that you can point to--you just need to get the "essence" of your game (whatever makes it great) in there.

For me, the skills are kind of hard to make, not because I can't think of things, but because RM3 can't support most of what I want to do.

A few of the answers I got here could save you a lot of heartache when it comes to balancing.

One thing you've got to remember (and something that has frustrated me) is that unless you have some sort of gimmick (check out the third "limit tech" in this post about Ivan Rosenguard's game), you can't control which single ally or enemy a certain skill/spell will target; only the player can. So skills that should only work on yourself, can also be used on another ally.

Now, it's hard to try and come up with skills for someone else, because I don't know how you plan to have your battles flow, nor how they will be "balanced." If you say how much "overlap" you want between the classes, that would be helpful too...

At any rate, a few ideas:

Acolyte: use lots of "skills" which small to moderate amounts of HP and do high damaqge, usually to one enemy. It makes sense to soemtimes cause slow or stun as a secondary effect, just from the brutality of the attack. MP skills should probably be support: "meditations" or whatever to increase stats, heal a small amount of HP, or make one ally strong against a certain kind of creature ("find its weak point").

Attican Knight: see, this is kind of what I meant when I said the lack of targetting could get annoying. A lot of self-heals or self-DEF-buffs would have been nice for this class, but it can't be done. Honestly, you could go a few different ways here. You could go the "Paladin" route and give this class a few healing and protective spells and no other skills (but high attack and defense stats). You could give the tank skills that are similar to the swift fighter, but considerably weaker and with 0HP cost. Or, since the Tank should have an excess of HP to spare, have him use skills that cost HP and buff his entire team--and then also give him a spell to restore a small amount of HP.

Spellweaver: (because I like it better as one word) here's where most of your enemy-damaging spells should probably be. I don't know whether you're forcing your player to specialize between different sets of skills or having each character learn every skill. If you're using specialization, you might want to include Fire, Ice, and Lightning Spells or something, where Fire spells tend to do lots of damage to all enemies but cost a lot of MP, Ice do moderate damage to an enemy and cause debilitating effects, and Lightning does lots of damage to a single enemy. Even if you're not specializing, it could be useful to think of the spells in such a paradigm. And then include a few extra "utility" spells for the character no matter their specialization--definitely a healing spell if your other characters have very little or none of that, perhaps a spell that increases the team's physical or magic defense, and maybe a "blood to mana" spell which costs a lot of HP and restores a lot of MP. (You just have to be careful to make sure that players can't abuse this in combination with healing spells/healing skills.)

Hope this helps! If you get a little more focused with what you want to do here, I could probably help with specific names or stats.

Can't do much right now, since my RPGM 3 won't work, but I'll write it down, JPS.

Wave... I love that post. So much.
