    elements of a castlevania game

i am sort of new to the game and im doing some research for myself so i ask this: what elements does every castlevania game have to have?

any castlevania games that have broken away from the elements? of course also which games you recommend i play/avoid to get the best castlevania experience?

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

A Castlevania game has to have some sort of platforming?

I think one of the things I like about Castlevania is the whip.

        But mostly just the umping.

Curse of Darkness has zero platforming.

You kinda have to devide 2-D (3D CV games are a whole 'nother class) Castlevania games into two catagories: Pre-Symphony of the Night and Post-SotN. They're a lot different.

Yeah, it went from follow the single path, to Metroid style search every nook and cranny of the place to find out where your supposed to go and find your weapons.

              3. Monsters

A plastic casing of some sort, and digital information, read off of either a chip or a disc.

IMHO, Symphony Of The Night is a must-have. It's an amazingly fun, totally addictive masterpiece that's so good that I like it alot, not being a huge Castlevania fan and all.

yes the medusa heads. those things are horrendously evil.

what a horrible monster. being stones is suppose to be fun, not an annoying nightmare the cause of dozens of reset and angry frustration.

                          I love Castlevania 1.

Though, the medusa heads are a total pain in the ass. "Awesome! I made it across that bottomless pit. Now to... SON OF A ****! I JUST MADE IT ACROSS!"

I got stuck on Frankie in Castlevaina 1.

                            Never to return to it!
