Re: Question for all of you in Americaland
I'd say most Americans have their shoes on inside homes only a small (20-40%) percentage of the time. But although it's not a ubiquitous phenomenon, it's really not considered unusual or rude (by most) to wear them inside.

Re: Question for all of you in Americaland
No, but a lot of my other family members and friends do. I don't because I prefer to be barefoot when possible, both for the comfort and the fact that when I have socks on for long periods, they make the hair on my feet itch.
I also have a friend who never does it, he immediately takes his shoes off before entering a house, but that's because he lived in Japan for a few years when he was a kid, his whole family's like that. Can't wear shoes in their house, either."Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity."

Re: Question for all of you in Americaland
I knew a guy that had everyone take their shoes off at the door (and had plastic pathways laid out, upstairs and down), but he was renting and he may've been trying to keep the carpet from getting messed up. Unless there's a formal gathering, most people I know lose their shoes if they don't intend to go out again. So you're a fish out of water...
Keep swimming.
What else can you do?

Re: Question for all of you in Americaland
I don't put them on until I'm planning to go somewhere and I take them off whenever it occurs to me. Usually only takes a few minutes unless I get distracted by something first.
I've gotten all my ideas of Canada from TV (Degrassi, Edgemont) and movies (Fargo, Bowling for Columbine). I wish I lived in Canada. The money's all colorful like and there's people getting gay married everywhere you turn. Not that I'd get married but I'd like to have the option so that my rejection of it could have more meaning.I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!
