I had recently gotten a $50 i-tunes gift card and when I put it on my account, I didn't check to see it the transaction got to my account, Went and bought 5 albums. Checked my thing---NO BALANCE---. My card was a dud, and my mom had a cow when she saw the credit card bill.

Well I use the gift cards all the time. I never check and they work all the time, except for the one I just did.

dont they send you a confirmation mail telling you your account has been topped up? perhaps user error is to blame for this one.

as a side note i finally fixed itunes, seams that crap quacklame was to blame.

I like how they fall back on the credit card without a confirmation note before you buy the album saying "Hey, we're taking money off your credit card since your balance is zero!!!"

Yep I'm sure it's all in that 30 page agreement document that no one reads and agrees too anyway. I admit I usually do that do, mainly because it takes a good 20 minutes to read some of those, and a lot of it isn't always completely clear.

I'm sure the reason they don't have the confirmation is because it was judged to be too inconvenient by the customers. They want to get their songs in 2 seconds, not 5, even if it means not making sure they want it charged or not. So yeah I think it's a little shifty not asking for any confirmation, though maybe they do as I've never used iTunes, and don't really plan on it. But really you should always check gift cards and such, I know I wouldn't pay something with my bank account until I know a pending deposit cleared (also because banks will always do withdrawals before deposits if both come in on the same day).

really? i always though the transaction was done in the order it comes in. so if you get a cash deposit added to your account in the morning, then you can use some of it later on in the day without having to worry about insufficient funds. i suppose there are technicalities and limits (a deposited check is not a cleared check after all).

as a side note, are your paychecks deposited at midnight and usable the next day or next business day?

Well let's just say I would make sure your deposits are actually in your account before borrowing against them. Certainly worth the peace of mind that you won't get a bounced check. I think it's mainly for checks, so ATM withdrawals should be fine. But yeah if a check comes in close to the time a deposit check does then a lot of times they'll process the check before the deposit check.

But if you can check your account online, most will have Processing beside deposits that are not yet officially posted in your account. I know I always wait until they post before using them.

i do most of my banking online, its stupidly easy to do and it makes me feel like im living up to the 21st century dream.

i have checks but i only pay rent with them, but who honestly uses checks to shop? plastic is the new paper.

What are you people talking about? When you download anything, it will ask, "Are you sure you want to buy and download [this song/album]? Your credit card will be charged for this purpose and your music will begin to download immediately." If you turned that confirmation off or you were too ignorant to read it at all, it's no one's fault but your own.

after taxes your lucky to get anything greater then a few bucks. what kind of crap gum do you buy, that 5 cent stuff that comes with the free half comic? i paid 5 bucks for a bag of chips at a convince store, but didnt realize how much i paid for it till i got home. i made sure to saver each cip, which wasnt much considering the depressing volume of air they pumped into the huge bag.
