    !!!!!!!SERIOUS XBOX 360 question!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ok, my wife MIGHT get me one for Xmas....NOW here is the issue. I would like one obviously BUT there are a ton of problems with the damn space hog I have heard about. along with god knows how many freaking versions you can buy making the price rise or lower dramaticly.

    help me out by pointing out the issues the system is curretly having. ie: red ring, dvd tray not closing or not opening at all, etc. Also the benifits of having a 360 as well. A list of dope games would be great.

    I am going to do my homework on the subject of course but it would be nice to hear from some people that actually own (or have one in repair hehe).

      The newer 360 models supposedly have dramatically reduced in defects.

      Besides 360's do have a few year warranty. And it only takes about 2-4 weeks for them to repair it and send it back. Plus they send you a box to ship it out in, so you don't pay sqaut for shipping.

      Oh yeah, Mass Effect comes out this month, with is guarenteed awesomeness.

        So far I've had no problems with mine for the year I've owned it, so I can't really comment on that. As far as games go I feel like this thing is going to be the PS2 of this generation in terms of AAA titles.

        Dope Games:
        Gears of War
        Dead Rising
        Bioshock
        Lost Planet
        skate.
        Virtua Fighter 5(with online play!)

        Also the imminent Assassins Creed has been getting pretty fantastic reviews.

        oh yeah and ****ing mass effect

        I didn't mention Halo 3 because I personally found it to be nothing special, seemed like a normal shooter with a ridiculously short single player portion.

          The 360 is not great at playing DVDs. Some of my discs run just fine, but some will skip, and one in particular (Pathfinder) will not even play at all.

          The arcade bundle is the cheapest and comes with a 512MB memory card plus 5 free arcade games, but there's a lot of videos and demos you will want to download, so you'll be wanting the HDD either right away or eventually. I dunno if they still sell the 20GB HDD, but the 120GB is the same price so you're better off going with that one.

          When you first create a gamertag to use online, you get Gold membership free for a month, so if you have any online games, you can try those out. Buying a headset is recommended, especially for co-op. If you're playing in team based games, it helps to talk to people, and also the games I've played (not including DoA4's lobby) don't use keyboards anyway for chatting during games unless you send text messages through the Xbox dashboard which I hate doing while in the middle of playing, I'd rather just voice chat without pausing the action since it's a lot more convenient.

            More than that; I can't count the number of times I've seen people get booted in Rainbow Six or Gears of War for not having a mic.

            I'd add Rainbow Six to that dope list for it's addictive multiplayer, but it really might be better on PC to be honest.

              I thought the premium and elite came with headsets... Mine did.

              Anyways there cheap. You can find one for like six bucks used.

                i don't have a 360.

                ninja gaiden II will be out for it eventually. it's worth it for that game alone.

                  I can personally attest that Mass Effect is awesome. It does a great job combining action gameplay that is somewhat forgiving for people who don't have perfect aim with deep, DEEP RPG story elements.

                    My friend said Assassin's Creed was so tight. He got a copy in at work.

                    As for games I enjoyed enough to buy:

                    skate.
                    Chrome Hounds


                    I also enjoyed but only for a rental:

                    Gears of War
                    Dead Rising
                    Bioshock
                    Lost Planet



                    I have the Elite and so far so good. Problem free.

                      I've had mine since last October and I haven't had any real problems with it. Live wouldn't let me log on for a few weeks at one point, but I'm not sure if that was my account or my system.

                      Games that I own that are good:

                      Crackdown
                      Dead Rising
                      Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (though I don't own this anymore)
                      Fight Night Round 3
                      Gears of War
                      Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (1 and 2)
                      Guitar Hero 2
                      Halo 3
                      Madden 08
                      Rainbow Six: Vegas
                      Skate

                      Plus, there's some good stuff on Live Arcade like SOTN.

                      After that, you've got this game onslaught with Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, and Rock Band, all of which I will have to own by Christmas.

                          Saints Row is also a very solid play, if you don't mind a GTA ripoff.
