Fish can be killed by the most minute changes in water temperature and water conditioning, so I would imagine that they would not be able to cope with a barrage of sound.

Was it a betta fish? Their lives suck enough without having people screaming at them. Trust me.

Hey, I don't even own any fish, I just took care of about one thousand of them at a pet store.

Bettas were shipped to us in tiny individual bags, with just enough water and air in the bag for the fish to be able to survive. I had to cut the bags and empty them into those little cups, where they sit until some chump buys them.

There is no reason to buy them just to kill them, that's childish and cruel.
