    Selling stuff

Why not have a forum where users can post games/systems/etc.. they have for sale? I have quite a few games Id like to sale that I dont want going to an EB Games or anywhere else for $2.50 when I know theyre worth more.

We could post it in free forum or video games but not many people would try selling anything unless they had a dedicated forum to.

Just a suggestion, dont know if this had came up before.

If not Ill probably turn my spare forum into a trade place

The suggestion has come up before. It is a nice idea, but it really woudn't get too much use. Pavvies selling stuff doesn't happen too often.

      Re: Selling stuff

thats why I added the voting thing, pavvies probably dont sell anything because theres not a definative place for it.

Ive rarely seen anything for sale here, but its possible most that might want to sell dont want to make a topic just to try to sell something

Like I said, it was just a suggestion

      EDIT TO ADD:
seeing if its been brought up before it probably wont happen, so I set up a forum just for selling games, however, if they do decide to add this on, Ill use my forum for something else, since the pav already has the user database to support something like this

I voted yes, but how would you insure people won't get ripped off?

          Re: Selling stuff

I voted up to the Admins. Because, I don't really care. But not just that even if we all vote yes and Valk doesn't like the idea, and has good reasons then it's gone.

I've picked a few things out for it to be safe for people. If we make that forum people will join that could of just joined because they want to scam us. I seriously think that if we let every new person in it will cause havoc. Could be avioded with, 50 post requirement. Or just not allowed to post in there until proves themself a legit member. Even then there is the possibilty they will scam us. So a bit of it relies on the people here to knwo when someone is scamming. Which can be hard.

Even if they joined to use that forum legitly. they may have only joined for that... I think it takes away the main focus of the site. PavilionBoards, Making games, and selling your stuff since 2007

You could make it so guests can't see this forum. That'd be a good idea.

There's a few more things I don't like, but I'll leave it at that.

Fast typed... Sorry for any spelling mistakes.

              Re: Selling stuff

We don't get enough requests to warrant a forum, and that's not because we don't have a forum, its because posting something up for sell is such a hassle and a wait from the time you post it untill the time you receive the money, which in most cases, won't make it worth the trouble.

Yeah, I completely see your point jvr and didnt think about that until after I had already made this topic

You also made a valid point Mopar, and making users have the ability to sell stuff after so many posts(maybe 500) does seem like a good idea, that way they know people around here and feel like they would be scamming people they know, versus new people who just dont care, the Pav could simply waive liability if someone ripped someone off, and I dont think that would happen betwen pavvies that knows each other anyways. Plus why would someone rip someone else off over just a few bucks? Unless they were selling a console, and I dont think someone would send 100-200 to someone they dont know and trust, ultimately its up to the seller on whether or not they trust the buyer enough to make the sale.

I think it would be a good idea, so does 4 other people right now, and 3 doesnt care either way, but it is ultimately up to Valk, I just posted the poll so we could see if something like this would actually be used.

                  Re: Selling stuff

people have sold stuff here before, and it's always done through the free forum or video game forum with pretty good success. based on how often those sale threads pop up, a dedicated forum for it would get approximately one new topic every 2-3 months. so no, we're not going to have a dedicated forum for it. it just doesnt make any sense at this point.
