woot finaly got ff12

so i finally broke down and bought a copy. this is probably not a good time to began playing it considering im jobless and broke. today sucked big time so i guess i really needed this as a pick me up.

anything i should know before i crack this game open? i wasnt too thrilled putting 40 hours into suikoden 5 only to find out i botched something one save back that prety much royaled all chances of a good ending.

Awesome game. It might take a little getting used to at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be fine. And don't stress too much over the License Boards. The main point of those is that you get to mold your characters into anything you want them to be--like a White Mage-type or a Fighter-type. One word of advice about that--try not to fill all the board too soon. Just focus on one particular theme by unlocking certain armor, magick and weapons.

When setting up gambits, the ones closer to the top take priority.

So basically if you want your party to heal themselves when dying, CURE should be at the top of the list. Otherwise, if Cure is below Attacking an enemy, they will cure themselves after the enemy they are fighting is dead.

And don't waste your points on the license board for junk you don't even have access to yet (spells, equipment, ect). Unless you fight constantly, plan out what you want each character to be able to do first and spend the points that way.

People say this is one of the hardest ff, but truth is if you are smart at the begining you can run through almost any boss in a few hits. Go for the mist charges!!! That will make the game so much smoother.

Oh, and if you plan on completely mastering the game tell me, because there are some chest's if you open you lose the chance of getting the best weapon. If you want to know what chest's they are say something.

I had to buy the strategy guide to find out which chests not to open because I wanted the Zodiac Spear. A lot of them look the same, so you can easily make a mistake and not even know it.

jesus just opening an innocent chest can botch you royal? yea you better tell me what chests i should run from becuase im not pulling two life sentences just to complete this game. that reminds me ff6, i didnt touch any chest until the world of ruin.

The first is in Low Town of Rabanastre by the southgate. It's right across from old Dalan's house. Just save before you go down there.

The second is in the royal palace. It's in the southeast corner of the cellars. That's all I know. It might be best to just not pick up any.

The third is in the Nalbina Dungeons. You will lose all your equipment and get into a fist fight. Once you get to that part be careful. It's after you get your equipment back in a place called the Confiscatory.

The last one is in the Phon Coast. It's a section called the Vaddu Strand. It's among a huge group of chests. 16 to be exact. I don't know exactly witch chest it's in so just avoid all of them. Trust me the spear is far more important.

When you get to these places be sure to save!!! And if you have any questions when you get to those parts be sure to ask. The first three are near the start of the game, but the fourth is far in.

whats with square and borderline sex chars? its come to the stage where i need an icon to tell me if its a male or a female.

Keep your eyes peeled--most of them blend in the environment so you'll have a lot of trouble determining which of them not to open.

I more then agree with the damn characters looking like the wrong gender. I don't see how Vaan could possably save the world!!! The game is too good to let that stand in the way though.

I also thought the talk icon was dumb, but I managed to forget about them. It just becomes natural. You don't even realize it's smiles.

Whenever I try playing the game I get bored. How you attack is kind of stupid. You select the attack command and like 5 seconds later you attack, keep close to enemy, your character attacks until the enemy dies. Boy, that was fun.

yea tell me about it. i found my first chest and im too scared to open it. the attacking is crap, i seam to spend more time standing around getting beaten by enemies then actually attacking them. when i want to attack i expect to attack and then have a charge up, not the reverse.

My suggestion for the game is not to talk strategy with Mora.

Okay FFXII is an awesome game (fun wise) there are tons of hunts to do and that pretty much makes the game worth while. Visual wise the game is great and the Espers are a pretty cool break from GF/Summons.
There is one problem though. Do not plan to get attached to your characters, and do not expect to find an excellent storyline. The game is totally worthwhile and overall a good game ... but it doesn't compare to some previous installments character/story wise!

Oh and if you look closely you realize that the names of the Espers are names of the bosses from Tactics!
