    IMA GOING TOA VANCOUVER

Gonna be there on the 19th, and 20th. 20th is the Rob Zombie/Ozzie concert. Whats there to do out there?

Since Ill be by myself, since my friends backed out due to lack of money, Im seriously freaked out about being mugged or attacked by crackheads and hobos. Apparently theres this one area Ive been told to steer clear of. Some small park overrun with homless people and crack addicts that sit aorund shooting up all day, that have been known to swarm and overwhelm people like those urchin kids in 3rd world countries that cut the clothes off of tourists to get their money and valuables.

I havent been out there since I was like 14, so I dont know the city at all. Id love to go to a bar, but last thing I want to do is get drunk, and fall asleep somewhere, or get lost at night with a bunch of weirdos following me.

But apart form that Im hoping the concert kicks ass, and that I have alot of fun. I might stop by Science World, or the Aqarium. I havent been to either since field trips in like the 7th grade.

Crack is a substance that is smoked, not injected.

I cant keep up with your new fangled crackhead speak. Heroines the one you shoot up right? Whatever. They are a bunch of drug using crazy people, and I want nothing to do with them.

Heroines are actually female versions of heroes. But yes, you do shoot heroin.

maybe heroin is the female hero drug of choice? i can see the sales pitch now. heroin - be a hero, shoot up today. i dont think that will get much rinkside ad space.

Theres a crackhead park here too, but theres not as many, and they arent as violent as the ones in vancouver. Plus I know my way around here, so if I had one or a couple come after me I know some places I could head to to lose them.

where are you staying crunkles? I live in burnaby. right by the skytrain so its easy access for me anytime. as for places to stear clear of, you are right about that park, its right in the heart of gastown near carrol st. and hsatings I belive. basicly anywhere in the hastings and main area. STAY AWAY. google the hastings and carrol intersection and red mark about a 5 block radius and you should be ok everywhere else. main street can be sketchy as well (main and terminal area).

bars are also very loosball now days, i dont go downtown at all for night life whatso ever anymore. way to many random shootings, stabbings, and muggings. I would say if you have to go to a bar, stay out of ANY granville st. bars (for of juiced up jocks and retarded sluts). i would suggest keeping to the pubs in the area (much nicer vibe) I would suggest the irish heather for a pub.

There is so much to see in Vancouver, I recommend not going to places you have been before like the Aquarium.

I really like Stanley Park, but I recommend that only if the weather is nice.

The Capilano Suspension Bridge is awesome, but a bit out of the way.

Karr and I also went to the Habour Center and I really enjoyed it there- it wasn't as crowded as the CN tower here in Toronto.

We mainly stuck around Georgia Street and whatnot, but I found this link from Wikitravel, try it out

                              Re: IMA GOING TOA VANCOUVER

Vancouver is hobo-tastic, but man, it is an awesome city. I went there for a week about four months ago. I was also by myself for a couple of the days, but it's not a place where you need a large group of people to enjoy yourself. It's just a huge city plopped into an incredibly scenic area.

                              Here's some things to do:

There's a ton of lightplanes on Burrard Inlet that take off and land on the water. I think it's around $80-100 for them to take you up for a 10-15 minute tour. It's kind of spendy, but I had never been in a lightplane, and definately never taken off from the water, so I thought it was some of the best money I've ever spent. Plus you really get a grasp on the scenery when you see it all at once from that high up. If nothing else, watching is free.
                              map

Stanley Park - If you go, make sure you go to "prospect point" for an incredible view (and when I was there, a guy playing the Chinese violin). Also check out the Vancouver Aquarium, which is within the park and I think is actually a pretty well-known aquarium. It was impressive. The rest of the park was alright, but those were the two most memorable parts.

Canada Place - There's a bunch of large cruise ships in this area, and along the pier, there's a bunch of signs that talk about the history of Vancouver. Cool stuff if you have any interest in history.
                              map

Capilano suspension bridge - Walk on a suspension bridge cutting across a 200 foot ravine. Once you get to the other side, there's a bunch of bridges in the treetops, too. It's very Swiss Family Robinson. There was also an old-time band playing when I went, and they give you the history of the area, too. This was somewhat expensive (around 20 bucks), but I thought it was worth it. Plus you get to take a water taxi across the inlet to get there from downtown.
                              map

Chinatown - when I went, there was a festival, which I think was held every weekend in the summer. Either way, it might be cool to walk around.
map - somewhere around here, not exact

Prostitution street - I can't remember what street it was, but it was straight out of grand theft auto. I LOL'd.

International fireworks competition - had you gone four months ago, you could have seen this. It was cool. Sorry.

Dollar pizza shops - They're everywhere, and some are delicious.

                              Tim Horton's - Also everywhere.

So that's Vancouver. Immediately after my trip, I traveled around Europe for a few weeks, and even after that, Vancouver is still one of my favorite cities I've been to.
