RPG Maker VX (update)

The official product page for RPG Maker VX has been opened.

Not a lot there now, since they're going to be releasing new information every week.

It will be using the L.E.A.P. verification system that XP used in japan, which means piracy of this should be pretty low providing they don't release a demo, since that's what was pirated for XP. it just had the time limit removed and everything unlocked. of course, this also means that the computer you install it on first is the only computer you'll ever be able to have it on.

They seem to be stressing that everything has been simplified, from event creation to map editing. character portraits are back, and other than that there's really nothing worth reporting on.

the US version of XP apparently runs on vista.

also, this VX thing is going to be japan-only for a while. I don't think it'll be anything special. like the change between RPG Maker 2000 and 2003. they just added a new battle system. nothing else. but they still charged 100 dollars for it.

PC RPG Makers are actually used a lot more in general than the console RPG Makers. just not here.

I might go ahead and get XP seeing it'll run on Vista, Ill check around and verify it does before I go wasting $60 on something that might not work

PC RPG Makers are actually used a lot more in general than the console RPG Makers. just not here.

And not legally until a little while ago.

The PC RPGMs are kind of like Enterbrain's Dynasty Warriors or Madden. Really popular, even though they go through little change between versions.

The nice thing about PC versions is that you could actually make a marketable, 100% original, game with them.
