Reputation?

I'm kind of sure that an admin lowered my reputation. Is there anyway I can talk to them about it? Not to complain or anything but just to clarify?

admins, just like everyone else, are able to give reputation to whom ever they want, whenever they want, for whatever reason they want. and stay completely anonnymous.

if its that big a deal to you, go ahead and "clarify" whatever here, in hopes that the admin that gave you negative reputation will restore it. because we honestly have no way of knowing who gave you negative reputation. only one person knows, and thats the one who did it.

No, it's not that big a deal. It was just about some of the old emoticons that I have and I keep bringing up to see if you guys want to add them but nobody ever answers me. I was just miffed that instead of someone saying "no IRC we don't want to use those" they dropped my reputation 10 points.

Could you just address whether you want to use the emoticons or if you've even seen what I'm talking about will be good enough for me.

I've seen what you posted. we arent going to put them up. its not a matter of not wanting them, its just that we have too many already.

as for 10 points being docked, admins can only decrease by 5 each time.

I REALLY dont see the rep system staying annonymous for a whole lot longer. Mora thinks it should stay annonymous though.

I think it should stay anonymous. If a certain dumb**** wants to make comments like that, he should say it out in the open, instead of hoping it will have some sort of impact when submitted anonymously.

I'd like to know who keeps giving me negative rep for the dumbest reasons. I mean, I dont mind when I deserve, but sometimes I think there's a coalition of my enemies teaming up just to lower my reputation on random posts.

Ok, so I've given a couple random people a positive point just so I could have spread enough reputation around to give Staffmaster a negative point. It's win-win, really. The only victums are those I've accidently given negative rep to when I point to give them a postitive point, force of habit I guess. But they are noble sacrifices in the name of smiting Staffmaster, so I'm sure they dont mind.

yes. valk lied when he said we couldnt so he could find out who would abuse the system and we could watch those people. we can see every positive and negative point anyone has ever recieved or given, and if we feel it was done as aflame we can delete it. the only thing we cannot see is the private field in your profile (I use mine as a things-to-do list), and private messages, but we can see the number of PMs anyone has in their inboxes. cant tell who they're from or what they say.

In my opinion, many of his rep points were quite undeserved. I thought this site would eventually become more mature than creating for itself scapegoats, but maybe I shouldn't have expected that. He has made some drastic improvements and isn't being the ass he used to be years back. So why can't anyone cut the guy some slack? All he's looking for is acceptance, as he desires to share info and experiences on this forum just like everyone else.

Um, I just found out about this whole reputation thing, is 10 good? And how the heck do you gain reputation *I know people 'give' them to you, but mainly by helping, or posting good, or following rules, etc*?

10 rep points (from what I've heard) was the number of rep points everyone starts off with. You gain rep or lose rep points from anybody.

Edit: Yeah, I was first confused when I had 10 rep points for reasons I didn't know of.

that just means an admin gave you a negative. admin's give rep points in increments of 5. everyone else is 1.

When an admin gives you 5 negative points then does it show up as different ones. I think it may have been multiple people. They hate the stuff that I post so it makes sense I guess.

dont take the system so seriously. it's mostly just for fun. I've gotten negative points before because I used a run-on sentence.

If you're new, you probably won't have any reputation yet. People give you points based on if they like your post or not.

you start off with 10. however, you wont see any in your user CP until someone gives or takes a point. once you get some points from other people, they'll be the first thing you see when you click "user CP"
