Just an idea floating around in my mind after re-reading my comments in the "Favorite Films" thread, and after reading Mora's comment and rep comment....would anyone here be interested in doing something like Oprah's Book Club, but with films? The way I see this working is, we get a core group of members (I'd say no more than 10 or so) who are all interested in some of the more obscure (ie-non-Hollywood stuff) films out there, and all have a subscription to Netflix or a similar service. Then biweekly or maybe monthly, each member gets a turn to suggest a film for everyone else in the group to watch, and then everyone, after having seen it, posts their views on said film, and a delightful discussion ensues.
Keep in mind, this is only an idea that came to me today, so if you think it's dumb, ignore this thread, and it'll die. But if you are interested in doing something like this, please post and let me know.
In keeping with my pretentious movie snob demeanor, I would ask that only those individuals who enjoy watching films that challenge you to think apply here. Because we have enough topics here dealing with the latest Hollywood blockbusters, I kinda don't want that type of film to be included in this.
So....what do you think?
