How is digital distibution handled for the PS3? Do you have any way to backup your download?

yeah, I was wondering if it's tied to your account like Live, so you can download it later if need be, or if it's just stuck on your box like the Wii.

One thing I read is that only the account that bought it can play it online er something.

I'd be interested in this one, maybe...but right now, my plate is full.

Once you buy a game from the PSN, you can download it up to 5 times before you have to pay for it again. So, if you have 5 PS3's go out, well, then you have to pay for it again. Or you can let 4 friends download it, but if something happens, you have to pay for it again.

I dont know if they will do something different for a game like this, but that is standard for everything else on the PSN.

I wanted the hard copy, and the headset, so i was willing to pay. And then 2 days later, Lair.

Wow. That's really awesome to know that if I get a PS3 it can die four times before I have to pay for downloaded game again. That should be their slogan.

Are you sure you can let four friends download the game you only paid for once? That kind of makes no sense from a business view.

I'm pretty sure it's tied to your account with the Wii too.

Sony prohibits sharing of downloadable Warhawk
There's always been a catch when sharing downloadable PSN games: If it's an online multiplayer title, only one PSN account can use a particular license at any one time, though the license can be shared with any number of accounts across five consoles (so, you purchase and download the game, and then four of your friends can download the game for free onto their consoles using your account, but play using their own accounts). With nothing said leading up to its release, no one expected the rule to be changed for Warhawk, but it has been.

It's not that Sony has lifted the limitation, but rather, Sony has reinforced it further. Each Warhawk license is tethered to one PSN account, the purchaser, and while the game can be installed on up to five consoles using that account (and only that account for playing), a single Warhawk license cannot be used on more than one console within a single day.

                  NO.

Once you lose (or sell or whatever) your Wii, you lose those games...they're tied to the box.

tied to the number on the box. if your wii is stolen or broken, you give nintendo the old console's ID number, they can transfer that system's download record to a new system.

                      Booya!

I don't see why anyone would want to download a PS3 game when there is no way to have it stored anywhere other than on your PS3.

Well, considering the PS3's notoriously low defect rate, it isnt that scary of a concept.

If you download a game onto two different hard drives using one PS3 does it count as downloading on two different units? Well, whether it does or not you could use the extra drive as a backup, right?

What if you sell it? This is the main reason my bf didn't want us to sell ours.
