    I just blew $450.00...

...on a 360 Elite. Also spent $80.00 for Best Buy's replacement agreement (good for 2 years). Didn't want to spend a buttload of money on a bunch of games, so I bought Top Spin 2 for $20.00. I had previously bought Tony Hawk American Wasteland for $5.00, and some hockey game for 75 cents. So I have three storebought games, and I was at my buddy's house tonight, so I downloaded a bunch of Live demos and one full Live game (Prince of Persia...I used to play the HELL out of that game back in 1989-1990). I also downloaded a Mitch Hedberg standup special from Comedy Central for 160 points, and this parody of Lost with cannibal nuns for 40 points. If the demos for Carcassonne (sp?) and the other strategy game on there that starts with a "C" are any good, I'll eventually download the full games. I've got wifi in my house, but didn't want to spend the $80 on the wifi adapter they had at Best Buy, so I'll probably buy that next paycheck. So I'm not online right now, but hopefully will be within 2 weeks or so....unless of course I can't hold out that long...that's what plastic is for.

Anyway, can anyone tell me how to add your gamertag as part of your sig as Misty and a few other people have done? Thanks, guys, for making me jones for the system, and then get it and probably never play it....

Congratulations on getting an XBox 360! You'll have a ton of fun with it. XBox Arcade games that are released every Wednesday, plus playable demos--I just recently downloaded the Resident Evil 5 trailer. My friend says the 360 is an ideal console for people who love first person shooters, and there are a lot of good ones for it. If you like FPSes, the 360 was a good choice--especially if you want to play online with your friends.

Oh, and if you want to display your Gamertag as part of your sig, pay a visit to this site. http://www.mygamercard.net/

This will probably be me in a month or so. Except I might be getting the Premium (or Pro?) instead of the Elite, not sure yet. Perv, did your 360 come with a game? I thought they were supposed to now. In fact I think Top Spin was that game, or maybe it was Table Tennis.

Top Spin 2 is tough online. I don't think I've ever lost so much at any game when I was first getting started.

Is there a benefit to the replacement plan? Because the 360's warranty is now covered for 3 years.

You can get it replaced at the store instead of shipping it to MS. I think. Also if you decide you don't want a 360 anymore you could use the voucher to buy something else. $80 is kinda steep though.

I have a question for Premium and Elite, how much of the hard drive is taken up by the preloaded stuff and do you have the full 120/20 GB if you delete all of that?

Being able to just replace it in store sounds like it's worth the $80 to me considering how many people here have had to replace their 360s.

Doesn't the three year warranty only cover red ring errors? Albeit, that's the primary issue with the system, but it's still good to have the whole thing covered.

Also, yeah, there's the wait-time when sending it to Microsoft.

Yeah, the guy told me that the Best Buy plan covers ANYTHING that goes wrong with the system, not just the red ring, like MS' 3 year warranty covers. Plus, if they do upgrade the hardware within the next two years, and still call it the "Elite" model, I might be able to have something conveniently go wrong with my 360, and exchange it for one with the new hardware....but I'm not sure if that'll work. Also, Top Spin 2 seems a lot harder to place a shot than the original Top Spin for Xbox. In that game, I was ranked #2 in the world (in career mode, I mean) by always placing all my shots in the corner away from the opposing player. It seems as if in Top Spin 2, when I try to do the same thing, all my shots go right back up the middle. Then again, I've not played the original in a few years, so I'm probably just rusty.

As for free games, the Premium actually DID come with Top Spin 2 for free, but the Elite (at least the one I got) did not. Also, I think the free Table Tennis was just a promotion Circuit City was running, but I could be wrong on that point.

Misty, FPS are the bane of my existence. Not really, but they are far from my favorite genre. I'm just really excited about the Live Arcade downloads and the demos of upcoming games, because I don't play video games all that much anymore, and I'll probably get some use out of it for Arcade alone. Also, I tend to buy a lot of games without having played them first, and, it's not that I don't like them, but I just never finish (or sometimes even start) playing them. The demo downloads are perfect, because if a game can really hold my interest for a level or two, chances are it'll hold my interest throughout the whole game. Plus, with games being $60 now, I need to be selective.

Also, today at work I bought Viva Pinata for $20 and LOTR Battle for Middle Earth II for $30. I want Oblivion, but I think I'll wait until the GOTY edition comes out for that. And depending on how I like this Bioshock demo, I might splurge a bit more and procure that, too.

thanks for reminding me Red Dragon...it's painful enough that Bioshock comes out tomorrow...
