    RPGM XP Workshop Forum

    The description says:

"A legal release of Enterbrain's PC RPG Maker masterpiece is on it's way!"

But it's already here, and has been, so shouldn't the last part be changed? Maybe something like, "A legal release of Enterbrain's PC RPG Maker masterpiece, the most powerful RPG Maker to date." or something?

These noobs are too busy trying to figure out how to get around all 6,316 limitations of RPGM3 to pay attention to XP.

6,317 actually. But to be fair, neither of the other two console RPGMs have allowed for land bridges, either.

Yeah, I'll change that. But I will NOT say its the most powerful RPG Maker. I honestly believe that title would go to RPG Maker 2. RPGM2 can do a whole lot of stuff that XP can't. There is very little that can be done in XP that cannot be done in 2.

Well, RPG Maker 2 is very powerful, moreso than XP in many ways. Then again, XP is extremely flexible as well. Which is more powerful is up for debate for some.

                Re: RPGM XP Workshop Forum

RPG Maker 2 doesn't allow you to completely edit its default menus, battle system, or the entire game engine like RMXP's RGSS can.

Now, if you're talking just the basic non-RGSS stuff, then yes, RPGM2 is more powerful.

I've never played XP, so I wouldn't know, I've just been told it's the most powerful so I figured that could be put in the description.

You can edit a lot of what the DMS displays/does. You can't dissect it and make your own, but it can be changed somewhat.

I showed that the DBS CAN be edited quite a bit, to even where you can have party members in battle visible(anyone remember RPG Fighter?). Dungeon Warden has also done this with Crown of Order.

I guess aside from that, you can't dissect the entire game engine. But not only is RPG Maker 2 very flexible, but it can be heavily edited without knowledge of complex scripting languages(unlike XP with Ruby).

No contest on the RGSS though.

Ruby Game Scripting System, a completely optional feature that uses the Ruby programming language to edit the game engine itself, among other things.

And there's also one great thing about XP. Finally all those sprite rips people put up on sites will finally be of use for noncommercial games.
