so while i am waiting to buy my xbox 360
i continue to play the last online game
i will ever play. EVE.
so for the first time i am going to present
some of my own personal pics of the game
and me in action.
so lets begin...
after some time in various corporations i
decided to fly alone. for my own flag.
later...i flew out to Kisogo region to see
if there was any space jerks out that
needed to be blown out of the cosmos.
so i stopped by a space station and
began browsing the local corps...i found
this one.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec3.jpg
hmmmm not a bad description but i was
curious if this was just some punks who dont
know squat about the universe or not so....
i found the leader
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec2.jpg
after reading that i knew...time to get to work.
the galaxy is a big place, but that doesnt mean
some punks are gonna try and run their mouth.
so i declared war on them! :D
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec.jpg
war does take time to initiate...lots of governmental
red tape...but while i waited for the ok, i got an
eve mail back from that punk.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec4.jpg
i realize his corp is 30+ strong in pilots and i
fly alone...but this isnt about the numbers...
chances are i may take some loses...so be it.
at 8 pm est this war officially begins. over
the next few days i will be documenting all
combat that will take place.
in the end, we will see if they have the will
to continue flying under that flag...or just
dissolve the corp completely and surrender.

Is Eve any good? Good luck with your war, they sounds like idiots =P Go jspaceman!
jspaceman

latest space war update!
so the war started, and 0.0 decided
to hide? perhaps...but i also noticed
that their corp has increased in numbers...
they are now approaching the 50 pilot
range...50 pilots vs me???? bring it on.
on top of that not a single one of them
could be found in the region as well as
2 jumps out. i flew around for a good hour
before i returned to kisogo and what do
do we have here?????
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec6.jpg
i found one of them online but docked at
the station...so i camped it hoping they
would undock. no luck for now.
taking a break but more to come.

Quick question:
Being fairly good at these sort of games, what are the chances of me getting enough ISK for an ETC in 14 days if I manage to acquire a buddy key?
jspaceman
07-24-2007, 10:59 PM
how much ISK would be enough for that?
give me a number and i can tell you what
is possible in 14 days.
also, eve is very unique. it is unlike any
mmo in that it really does require combat
ability and tactics. those things require
training skills as well as buying modules
for your ship that enable it to be more
efficient.
here is an example...
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec7.jpg
these are the modules i fitted on my cruiser.
row 1 are my weapons...
because i have trained my gunnery skills
really high i am able to fit these medium
tier blasters. it is the max a cruiser can fit.
but it takes a while to get them on, let
alone pilot a cruiser. thats a whole other
skill set.
row 2 are my defensive modules...
shield booster - webber - and 2 shield extenders
the booster is active so i have to turn it on.
so is the webber, it shuts down a ships
engine making it unable to fly out of range.
the extenders are passive, they increase
my shields by tons. these modules also
took time to fit.
row 3 is special
gunnery bonus mod - warp core stabilizer - cap energy bonus x 2
these items increase all kinds of things as well
as maintain my engine.
all in all, it took me a few months to fit
into a cruiser, and these modules and also
learn how to use them tactically. in pvp
combat i have to fly into position that enables
me to to use my mods efficiently. but the
other pilot is also flying against my moves.
its a dogfight for sure...and whoever can
fly into position first really does have an edge.
thats how EVE works. it isnt for everyone...
the world is what you make of it. my eve
is a world of war or peace. sometimes i hit
the asteroid belts to mine and make cash.
other times i hit deadspace camps and hunt
pirates. or, i declare war and test the strength
of other pilots.

I heard that most players just mine mine mine mine mine mine mine and mine s'more.
If you think FFXI is slow, you haven't played EVE.
It actually sounds a lot like a mix between oGame and Freelancer.
jspaceman
07-25-2007, 02:15 AM
the night wasnt a total waste
after all...after flying around
a few systems i managed to
figure out that they all had headed
near the jita systems. a hub of sorts
but everything goes thru jita so i
just had to do some extra work to
find them and boy did i ever.
round 1!!!!!!
i found a new one! not on my
recon list...name was Vicefox...
he is flying a Merlin. a very fast
frigate usually good for tackling
and damage...not a real threat
but if played right could have been.
the damage he is taking as you can
see is self explanatory.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec13.jpg
he went boom and here comes my
eve mail to confirm the kill.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec12.jpg
round 2!!!
the next guy i ran into was flying
a destroyer! wow! this could have
really hurt bad but....
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec11.jpg
he blew up too, and i almost managed
to pod him...when you explode you get
ejected into space in a pod...losing your
pod means you lose all the implants you
had installed into your body. bad bad bad.
but he just got away....
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec10.jpg
eve mail confirmation...
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec9.jpg
so now its bed time...its a good start
but i feel this is gonna get ugly. we shall
see what comes tomorrow...this corp has
been recruiting like crazy and i dont know
what kind of pilots actually joined. so far
they seem really unorganized...but never
underestimate anyone.

ok quick update! then i gotta get back
to the war. i decided to break out the
BIG DADDY!! i was a little worried about
a counterattack...mainly a 3 v 1 or more.
so i thought the element of surprise would
be good.
ladies and germs, i bring you my battlecruiser!
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec14.jpg
this thing is built for all out damage.
7 HEAVY missile turrets
tons of shield boosters/resists/extenders
its built to tank like gustav in PLD gear. hehehe
i figured if its going to be 3 or 4 v 1 i need
the muscle...and this thing has it.
so i did a scan and found something curious.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec15.jpg
ant1emo2??? ok fine...lets find him....but
wait, isnt that Canderous??? who i just killed?
ok no biggie but then i noticed he didnt have
a red star on his avatar anymore....the red
star means i am at war with this pilot.
ok, so what happened? i did a scan of him and
the answer was revealed...
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec16.jpg
he quit 0.0 enterprises!!!! :lol
more to come....

0.0 enterprises is going DOWN.
today has been nothing but destruction.
and still, 0.0e's leader has yet to log on.
i managed to find a few new members
out in kisogo today so lets get to work.
i would like to introduce to you a volley
of heavy missiles....
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec18.jpg
got pod?
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec19.jpg
ooooh its ant1!!!!
flying a kestrel!!! this should be fun....
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec20.jpg
but alas....she redocked and i didnt get the kill.
but she had the guts to fight....maybe i will go
easy on her.
this is my eve kill mail so far....
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec17.jpg
and a very short and sweet communication with
one of their pilots...talk is cheap, so i made this
brief.

latest war update**********
things calmed down after the initial
attacks went down. only things i
can report on is there is still no sign
of the leader and after my short chat
with that pilot he took my advice.
tazwurr is now in the clear...

my handywork hasnt gone unnoticed...
i received a chat invite from some other
pilots in the system who had been watching
my work. eve is a big universe but eyes

i have meet other rogue pilots, like myself...
flying for freedom...its the only way to play eve.

being a rogue space combat pilot
has a price. it changes you.
war, has an impact on you as well.
it teaches you to be honorable.
during all phases of a combat situation
i try to be the best before, during, and
after the fight is over. some pilots
do not have the same frame of mind.
you just have to let them go. but
sometimes, they do listen.
this one is now free and clear.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec31.jpg
but others dont listen to my advice
and only bring more loss to themselves...
this pilot will be a target for a long time
it seems. he declined my suggestion to
leave his corp. call it loyalty, call it
what you will...at least he fights back.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec32.jpg
and goes boom.
with the region seemingly clear my fellow
rogue pilots decided to teach me some
gang tactics. very generous of them.
it seems i will be joining them in their wars
very soon. they suggested i fly a kestrel.
fitted with 4 rocket launchers an afterburner
and a web and scram to tackle...they took
the field in an osprey cruiser, and an
interceptor. during some tactical training
we came upon a destroyer who had made
a huge mistake and aggressed us...we then
took care of him.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec33.jpg
this is what it looked like from my window.

the casualties
the stress
these things are real
2 more pilots have made the right
decision. 1 of them, as you may
recall...was at first stubborn. but
he is now free and clear.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec37.jpg
as well as this one.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec38.jpg
today i felt a calm. i decided to make
my demands to the leader who has yet
to lead. funny that is...a leader who
does not lead. hmmmmm....
anyways i made it as poetic as i could.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec35.jpg
this was his reply later on.
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/regonzal/Filemanager_Public_Files/eve/wardec36.jpg
it makes me sad that this was his only reply.
while it must have took him all but 5 minutes
to log in, read my demands, send this
cowardly response, and then log out...it only
strengthens my goal.
the hunt continues....stay tuned

i would like to introduce everyone to the
DRAKE. this is my battlecruiser...and my
ship of choice for some time now. over the
last few months my life in EVE has taken
many turns. when i last docked up and
took a moment to tell my story i was flying
under my own flag and at war with some
corp i found to be a bit in need of a wake
up call. indeed my influence impacted them
enough to bring their numbers down to
the point of a complete restructuring. the
rats left the sinking ship and left the responsibility
with the innocent.
but thats all old news now.
the flag for freedom still flys but this old
pilot has found a new home. as some may
have heard, i am now a member of privateers.
a rag tag bunch of freedom fighting scum. we
have one simple goal in EVE, to run amok across
the universe declaring war on any big shot corps
we find. we run about 3-5 war decs a week so
that we are never short on targets.
when we are together we are a legitimate force.
dont get caught flying solo here...
http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa299/reneanthony07/20080210022909.jpg
but sometimes i like to fly alone, in this case
i would like to introduce the cloaking/sniper/cruiser.
this little ship here may be small, but when positioned
80-90km out from a warp gate...can be a real danger
to all ship classes equal to and below.
now you see me...
http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa299/reneanthony07/20071218063247.jpg
now you dont...
http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa299/reneanthony07/20080907010416.jpg
nothing makes me more randy then seeing a pilot
jump thru that gate way off in the distance to think
he is in the clear...
for now, its time to sign off...but stay tuned as
i get back to the front lines to bring you the best
combat action i can find.
stay up to date with all my latest kills which can

sometimes out here in space it can be
a little too quiet...and while me and my

to reflect.....
http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa299/reneanthony07/20081012030950.jpg
reflect??? no...we dont really...but we love
it when a NIGHTHAWK comes cruisin through

but sadly...even after calling in for more firepower
this little bugger got away. look my friends, the EVE
universe isnt a little bundle of joy. and no pilot is
absolutely trustworthy. we in Privateers know this.
and sometimes we get a spy or 2...i aint sayin any
names. its just the facts. we accept it.
so where the hell is all the action???

Cool looking video. Looks like you're running with a pretty good crew.

I've been fighting an itch to get into Eve for a few months now, but the game is intimidating with all the technical details.
Does JJ still check here? I remember that nut from my FFXI days

I was going to as well, especially when it was only 5 bucks three days ago on Steam. But Star Trek Online comes out next month.

Double Post.
Just wanted to throw this Free 2 Play thing out here, supposedly a EvE clone, I don't know a lot about it but if anyone was interested without having thier minds blown by actual EvE Online:

In light of my computer being unable to run FFXIV, and my itching to play this game since JSpaceman made this topic, I downloaded the 14-day trial a few days ago and began playing.
So far, it's awesome. My only complaint, the world is a little bland. Hopefully this will change when they add explorable spacestations. Whenever that will be. Other than that it's great. Definitely considering upgrading to a paying account.

wow this topic still gets attention? haha...
sadly i have put my ship into dock and have
not been in EVE for many months now.
my only bit of advice to anyone considering
this game is get into a lowsec/ 0.0 sec/pvp corp
as soon as you can. the most fun i had in EVE
was when i finally joined privateers. terrorizing
as many systems as we could, including lowsec
space was the only highlight for me. that doesnt
mean you couldnt find enjoyment staying away
from that style of play, the mission/quest systems
will keep you busy for a very long time...but
might not keep you interested for long. plus, the
amount of time it takes to train the most important
skills to max so you can at least stand a chance
is very very long indeed.
i doubt i will ever return to EVE at this point in time.
my toon in eve can be viewed here. you can see
my stats and kill record.

So EVE is going to be directly tied to a PSN download shooter game called Dust
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/6475/ambitious_plans_the_marriage_of_.php
You can communicate and interact with players from either game, make corporations, hire mercanaries, pilots, etc. EVE being the space part and Dust being the planet part.
Pretty cool!

yes denmo,
i have had my eye on this project since i learned of
it about a year ago. it certainly has the appeal to
bring me back to the EVE universe even though its
from the ground level...but the fact that ccp is making
this move to merge the eve player base/pc with ps3
players has my attention. i will be watching and waiting.
