    Why are you here?

As we approach the pavilion's seventh anniversary, I though I'd ask.

Why are you here? What made you decide to come here?

I wasnt a regular for quite a while, but I came here because the only other forum I went to at the time (agetec's) was so crowded with Armored Core discussion, since it was only one forum, not divided up into seperate categories. RPG Maker talk quickly got buried before you could find out the answer to your question. Luckily, it wasnt like that at the pavilion.

I'm still here because I love being involved in helping people get their dreams turned into games, and get them out there for other people to enjoy. I like watching the community evolve all on it's own, without any certain direction or purpose. The general discussion areas are an entire community in themselves, that isnt influenced at all by what goes on outside of that area. It's very odd that on one site there can be two complete communities co-existing, with one being comprised of people who have outgrown the other, or have never even had an interest in RPG Maker to begin with. Thats the strangest thing about the pavilion in my eyes, that so many people here have never touched the software, or at least havent for 5 years or more. Even with that, this is a place they've chosen as their "online home", so to speak. It's strange that the largest console RPG Maker site on the net is completely capable of surviving without RPG Maker. Thats why I'm still here. it's a unique place that never stops surprising me.

    You invited me back.

And this place is very active, indeed.

      Re: Why are you here?

Well I'm here from agetec's site.
I went to rpgmaker.agetec.com to look for information on rpgmaker 3, which I bought but am not too sure I like. I still have my copy of rm1, which I made a crap ton of dumb games for that were always too uber hard or unbalanced.

I came here to see peoples ideas and play thier games, because thats 1/2 the fun of rm. Though, I believe I'm going to get rmxp, yes I know...I know its not agetec but its more along the lines as I want, no limit to my game. I'm having issues with that on rm3, mainly because the game I'm making has multiple plots and subplots and alot of dumb stuff.

but thats way off topic here.

I wanted to see what this game has to offer, thus I seen the website in my rm3 book. (so I went there only to be disapointed in its lack of proformance, note that the last rm I played was 1 which has alot of potential. I never played 2, heck I didn't know 3 existed till I went to gamestop and seen it in the 1/2 off bin for 9.99, so I bought it.) Then I seen a message board site, similar to ones I've went to in the past, so I had to check it out. I found alot of new people to get opnions from, pro's if you would call them anything of the sort in this field. So I sit here and read article after article on how the games work, thier flaws and ways to overcome them. I listen to the advise of multiple people whom I feel are very noteworthy on this game, and I pay attention.

I really have no life when I'm working so I lurk and post random things to see how everyone thinks and figure out who would be the best people to ask questions based upon the logic of thier previous retorts to my various other posts, so that when the time arises I'd know who would be the best in helping and understanding. Believe me I'm no god when it comes to making rpg's, heck I'm having a dandy time making my own larp but thats a whole other story there.

So in short this is my free time.

Also the leveling charts and guides are extremely helpful, I appluad you whoever wrote them (can't think of your name at the moment)

Originally, I came for the obvious reason of the RPGM. What kept me here happen to be the people. Such very interesting characters and always having something to say. You, my friends, greatly amuse me. Thank you all for the memories.

          Re: Why are you here?

In retrospect, I found this place when I was researching information on RPG Maker 3. I saw the first screenshots right here in these message boards. I joined in 2005, adopted the name Misty, and have been here ever since. As you recall, I tried to be helpful after learning about the fake earlier RPG Maker 3 release (July rather than August) and decided to post the "happy news" as my first. Of course, it didn't pan out too well--I made a bit of a fool out of myself, especially since I was a noob! But you guys were kind and welcoming to me, and forgave my transgressions. It also made me realize that the members had the true inside information on games made by Agetec--RPG Maker 3 being one of them. You were a much more reliable source than many other websites out there, especially those who gave false release dates.

I had a few ideas for RPG Maker games, but overtime, despite efforts to rekindle my creative spirit for the games, I just lost interest. Gradually, I spent much more of my time in the lower half of the message boards--where lovable clowns like Magus like to exist. I try to offer RPG Maker help and encouragement when I know the answers, but I am not experienced in the games as much as the seasoned professionals. So, just consider me the cheerleader.

I've come and gone a few times during my stay here, and I'm pleased to say that I've made many friends. I do like the community an awful lot. Most of you have been very nice to me, and I appreciate the friendship and rep points you've given. I never had a Gold Gobli before, and am about to get my second one because of the kindness of the community. I hope to help other members here, especially the new ones, get their Gobli buddies.

So why am I here? I don't know. I just enjoy being here, I guess.

              Re: Why are you here?

Because I'm a loser with no life.

I came here through Agetec's site, which was listed in the back of the RPGM3 manual. I didn't spend any time there, I merely used it as a gateway to this place. I originally bought a copy of RPGM1 the day the PS2 came out, as I had never owned a PS1 (I went the N64 and Dreamcast route). Unfortunately, due to rent being more important than video games, I returned the PS2 a week later. Now I was stuck with an opened copy of RPGM1, which I had read the manual of but had never played. So, soon after I bought my second (first one I used) PS2, I put a preorder down for RPGM3.

I had never been a member of a message board before, so I didn't know what to expect. At first I just posted in and read the RPGM forums. But eventually, after I got more familiar with posting and such, I ventured into the other forums here.

As for why I'm still here, I'm still making games with RPGM3, and I have my own forum. I've grown beyond asking questions about the game, but instead try to give answers to others who are new to it. I want to be an active part of a community, and hope that at least some of my contributions here are worthwhile. As for why I have over 2000 posts in the year and a half that I've been here, there's an easy answer for that, too. I have no life.

On a different note, I do enjoy making friends here, and try to be as friendly and easygoing as possible. I really don't want to get on anyone's bad side, and hope that I do not rub people the wrong way. I enjoy talking to people I've met here on IM, and talking about topics both inside and outside of the realm of RPGM. But this place is the glue that holds the whole thing together. My problem is, I spend too much time on the computer (thanks in large part to this place) and not enough working on my game(s). I'll need to change that habit soon, as I've still got a mag contest game to work on.

I also enjoy the contests that the Pav holds. They give me an incentive to work on new game ideas, and to come up with ideas I otherwise may not have.

In short (too late for that ), this place is my internet home, and the Pav is the first place I navigate to when I turn the computer on, and its window stays open the entire time I'm on the computer, whether I'm actively browsing the site or not. I'd like to thank everyone involved for keeping this site what it is, which is a really awesome place to call home.

I used RPGM2 software for a while, but then college started taking up too much of my time.

I stuck around for the buffet... of manliness.

I'm here because this was the first place my brother showed me that was on the net. So, I feel like this place is kinda like a virtual home. Dispite all the negative things that have been said about me here, I really don't plan on leaving for good, when I leave. I want this place to be here 10 years from now.

I lurked around for months on Den's account and found the conversations to be interesting, so I thought I'd join. It was also nice to finally come across a forum where everyone didn't write in text message format.
In the beginning the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and is widely considered as a bad move.
