    Any coin collectors here?

I don't really consider myself a coin collector, but I've been putting the quarters that come out every couple of months into this book. I know some people only collect mint condition coins, or uncirculated ones, but I think it's a cool way to have a little record of U.S. history and something to pass down to future generations.

Does anyone on here collect the quarters?

I know the new dollar coins (one for each president) have also started production. I have the first two.

    Just curious.

I do enjoy collecting coins (and paper money) from other countries, I've got several dozen in a little box. None of them are worth a whole lot, I just think they're really cool. Some countries have coins made of two different metals in different parts of the coin... those ones are my favorite.

I stopped bothering with the U.S. State quarters after like... seven of them.

Oh, that's cool about the foreign coins and bills Wavelength. I'm sure if they haven't stopped circulation yet, some of those foreign coins and bills will soon be replaced by the Euro or the dollar. I know the Ecuadorian coins I have (sucres) are now obsolete.

I probably wouldn't have bothered to start collecting the quarters if a good friend of mine hadn't given me that coin holder book.

Yeah, I don't collect super expensive coins either...just what I get at my bank when I deposit a check or something. Those dollar coins are worth just that one dollar.

im amazed at the designs used on coins from other counteries. some really interesting ones are those which are not completely round but interestingly shaped. ive seen some coins with holes in the center too. thickness varies just as much as the design and materal does. i guess i just find money facinating.

Whenever I worked retail jobs I usually kept an eye out for older coins, like the steel cents from the 1940's or the silver quarters made before 1965. The oldest coin I've found in circulation was an "indian head" cent from 1891.

I found a five dollar bill from 1920 once. I went to a coin collector store oncce to find out how much it was worth, and the guy told me about $5.25. I kept it for a while, but got hard up for money once, and ended up spending it. I've gotten buffalo nickels many times, wheat pennies many, many times, and I think I even got one of those mercury head dimes that are made out of silver on a few occasions. That's about the extent of it.

I have some coins in my safe: Susan B. Anthony dollars, wheat pennies, and other stuff. I'm also collecting the state quarters, and might start collecting the Presidential dollars.

I collect quarters, but that's for laundry. I do have some silver dollars from back in the day that I got from some great aunt or something.

My collection consists of a Canadian penny, dime, and a Zimbabwe nickle I found.
