    Day of Silence

    http://www.dayofsilence.org

I'm doing this too, so far there is a large fraction of people doing it at my school. Is anyone else here doing it?

Wow, I use to do that for fun. Now there is a day for it. Crazy.

For those of you who haven't tried going for a day or two without speaking, it's very very interesting. Glad to see it's for a good cause. I would do that, but my job requires me to talk to people.

      oops, I already screwed up.

Sadly, I'm way too much of a ***** to do this at work. On top of that, no one knows I'm gay.

I would talk today, but I can't. Bronchitis has stricken me with no voice.

        So like... I'm involuntarily contributing.

Just don't tell people about the bronchitis part.

Hmm... I'd do this too if gay/lesbian/whatever oppression was really an issue in my school. Being silent is easy for me anyway.
          ...and that's why.

            Re: Day of Silence

I would've done it just so I had an excuse not to say anything during class, but really it would end up being a nuisance.

I know a lot of people doing it. Some of our best singers in choir did it just to **** our teacher off.

My school is doing that very thing here. I thought it was just my school doing it, too. I didn't know almost EVERYONE is involved in this. Disrespectfully enough, the a-holes at this school use this as a ploy for their comedy routines. I wouldn't have expected any better from them. Even if I'm not involved in it myself, it's VERY easy for me to go a day without speaking. I barely talk to anybody...at least not to anyone I don't really know.

People did this lat year at my school.

It made no sense at all.

Lucky you, Lakewood which is down the street is a VERY tolerant school, but Green Mountain up the street is ****ing awful. The teachers are freaking bigots.

Yeah my school had tons of people doing this, it got interesting when I went to order two chalupas from taco bell. The guys there thought I was deaf so they started writing down if I would rather have steak or chicken on my supreme chalupa.

They had this at my school, it's not really for a good cause since most people do it just to get out of having to answer any questons in class.

I'm not sure whether it's for a good cause, or just a way to make a school day weird and different and weasel out of making it productive.

                      Alas.
