    The God Gene

The future that The God Gene paints, is not one torn by the tribulations of war. It is a peaceful time--on the surface. To the oblivious, life is perfect, clean, and devoid of catastrophic toils. But to Ivan, a young man bio-genetically created from the many genes of countless donors, the world has lost its collective mind.

Politicians fight day-by-day; arguing endlessly, doing nothing. The world of organized crime thrives--and with those same politicians being paid off by them to ensure it stays that way! The vast majority of Humanity remains oblivious. What's a bio-genetically engineered young man--code name "Salvator" (Savior)--to do?

Now, Ivan is on the trail of a murderer. The murderer wants Ivan to catch him, but why? The answer that Ivan will uncover, will shatter his perceptions of the world (and that of those arround him) and throw him and five others into a conflict that will draw the attention of beings on even the highest plane of existence.

"Human beings had lost touch with humanity when they decided they were gods."

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The God Gene" is a Sci-Fi RPG experiment with RPGMaker 3. I've been working for quite a while now on it so this isn't just arbitrary idea. It is set in the year 2367. Human beings have created colonies in space--orbiting just above the earth--and on Mars. Part of the mystery of this game will be finding out just what happened that had ended years of war-torn strife in the eastern lands. The story of this game is as much a commentary on current affairs as it is futuristic ones.

    Features of "The God Gene"

    (More info to follow)

    Playable Characters
    Ivan:
    Age: 18
    Hair: Reddish-Brown, curly.
Eyes: A purple, violet hue (the result of screwing around with the genes that make up eyecolor, just to see if it could be done.)
    Skin: Dark--all around Anglo-Indian appearance.
Class: Black Rider (Rider of the Black Horse of Famine)
    Specialty: Swordfighter, magic user hybrid.
    Weapon: Beam-Saber

Ivan's pretty serious most of the time. His biggest fault is that he thinks to much. Being a Salvator--a genetically engineered human (not to be confused with a person who has two parents with their genes altered to include the best of both parents--a common practice in this age) he is a composition of genes from donors around the sectors were humans thrive. He is highly opinionated, and he doesn't take other peoples' arguments lightly--he doesn't take anything lightly, actually. He can be somewhat defensive (something you think he, with all of his intelligence would be above) but you can count on him to be the last man standing in a fierce battle. He is a young man of deep conviction--once he sets his mind on whatever he's convicted to--and won't back down once he's made up his mind, provided he makes up his mind in time for action to be taken....

    Zatch
    Age 20
    Hair: Dark Red
    Eyes: Blue
Skin: Lighter tanned than Ivan's--all around Rennaissance Archangel appearance.
Class: Red Rider (Rider of the Red horse of War)
Specialty: All out powerhouse with high defense stat.
    Weapon: Beam Saber

Zatch is rather...hotheaded. He is another member of the "Salvator Project" being managed by the Veritas Researchers Commune. He came before Ivan, and just after NATARAJA-001. Despte his somewhat crass disposition, he is quite intelligent--though obviously the gene for such was selected for him. Though he tends to rub people the worng way, he doesn't like major confrontations. He fights Ivan's descision to press on with his campaign right to the very end. He has the whole Rennaissance Archangel thing going on with his long, curly, dark red hair; but don't be fooled: he's an asshole at heart.

    Sophie
    Age: 15
    Hair: Golden blond
    Eyes: Deep blue
    Skin: pale--overall Aryan appearance.
Class: White Rider (Rider of the White Horse of Pestilence)
    Specialty: High-powered magical assaults, healing.
    Weapon: Proton beam-shooting crossbow.

Despite the fact that she's probably more intelligent then Zatch and Ivan combined, Sophie was created for one purpose: Her Aryan appearance. The much envied blonde hair, blue eyed, Anglo-Saxon look practically died out over 200 years ago due to inter-racial coupling (most people look like Ivan, barring the violet eyes). Despite the ability to manipulate genes prior to incubation, a 100% effective method for seperating those much sought after Aryan traits from the other genes has not been perfected. Therfore, blond, blue-eyed children are a rare sight.
Sophie herself is quite immature. It might just be her age, the fact that she's a teenage girl, or the fact that she's constantly being compared to her brothers (Ivan and Zatch, though they're not blood relatives on any level) in terms of overall aptitude. She gets on Zatch's nerves, but she's been the star of the Veritas Commune ever since she was born. Nobody could ever resist her charm (I'm talking girlish, not sexual) she's been practically spoiled most of her life. Perhaps that's why Zatch thinks she's such a spoiled brat.

    NATARAJA-001
    Age: 25
    Hair: Golden blonde
    Eyes: Blue
Skin: Pale--Overall Aryan look (with the appearance of a 7 year old girl).
Class: NATARAJA (Avatar of Creation and Destruction)
Specialty: Hacking reality, crippling enemies, and summoned creatures (See Info on summoning on Page2)
    Weapon: Dagger

NATARAJA-001 came before Ivan, Zatch and Sophie as the first recorded Salvator. But her birth was not without complications. She is a vicitm of CPG--Collapsing Pleiotropic Gene Syndrome--a condition that can occur with artificially created human beings who are created with genes from multiple donars; to anyone who bears the title "Salvator".
Nine embryos were creted from identical sets of genes. All nine were to be Aryan, a rare sight in those days.
Seven of the nine had begun to divide, and they were placed inside the womb of seven foster mothers.
One-by-one the conflicting genectic codes of the fetuses collapsed upon each other. Until, in the ninth month, one remained; but she to, fell victim to CPG. An emergency C-section was performed, and Bio-mechanical parts were used to compensate for what CPG had destroyed. NATARAJA-001 would live. But the Veritas scientists new she would outgrow the Bio-mechanical implants too quickly for them to implant more, so they gave her chemicals to stunt her growth. She stopped devoloping physically at age 7.
As for her mind, it was never there to begin with. Since birth she has been deaf, dumb and blind. She is a barely-living testament to mother-nature's rejection of mankind's ambitions. She is a forever a walking doll.

    Jerome
    Age: 54
    Hair: (He's bald)
    Eyes: Brown
    Skin: Dark
    Race: Black
    Class: Transfer Technician
Specialty: Gun-combat, transferring a multitude of different weapons to the battlefield.
Weapons: Twin MAWs (Multiple Ammunition Weapon) (Actually, they're Tonfas, but I made them into guns).

Jerome is quite old. Even so, he's quite possible the strongest character in the game. Though he is the only character who uses no magic, he has a varied arsenal of attacks ranging from different types of amunition to the ability to transfer different kinds of weapons and devices to the battlefield. He's quite versitile.
Jerome used to work for Ziggurat Heavy Industries (The most powerful industry conglamerate in the world) as a "Transfer Technician", someone who is specially trained in the transporting of objects and materials at light speed to anywhere they need to be.
Only inanimate objects can be transported due to Einstien's Theory of Relativity, which means that anything travelling at the speed of light must be light. Inanimate objects can be pieced back together, but a living creature would be lost forever.
Jerome eventually left the company for whatever reason, and has since then been working as a maintenance man for Veritas. And for whatever (possible the same) reason, he hates Ziggurat Heavy Industries with a passion.
He owns his own space cruiser, which serves as a home-base for Ivan's party.

    Father Kevin
    Age: 45
    Hair: Light brown
    Eyes: Green
    Skin: Pale
Race: Mostly cocasian (though no one is full blooded white anymore--or black for that matter).
    Class: Priest
    Specialty: Healing, protective spells.
    Weapon: Staff

Fr. Kevin has been serving the Priesthood for over 25 years. He is a loyal member of his Parish, and well-respected man of God--or was, anyhow. Though psychic abilities are somewhat commonplace in this age, the Vatican has placed a ban on all psychic men from ever entering the priesthood. When Fr. Kevin is found out to be one, he is forced to leave, shattering his faith in God. He is a kind and giving man at heart, and that does not change even as he turns to Nihilism.
His healing power is the strongest that has ever been seen. Though psychic healers have been known to repair damaged flesh with their minds, never has anyone's healing ability been so potent. Perhaps there is truely a higher power at work?

Nice to see an idea from a newbie that's actually interesting, instead of "bob goes on a quest to collect the four crystals to kill the evil Kriftikalivan, I know it sounds cliche but its totally original and youll just have to play it to find out how".

      Wait a minute....
A new member has posted a story in general.
      It doesn't suck.
      It has grammar.
I...am looking forward to a game made by a newbie.
First time for everything, I suppose.
      It's just so...creepy.

Valk has nothing to do with this. I am not an alternative account/someone hired by someone else to pretend to be a newbie/whatever your thinking. Is it that hard to believe that someone new to this board can have an imagination and proper use of grammar? I may be new to the site, but I am not new to the English language or forms of creative expression.

And I'm glad somebody's interested in my game. This is so much more fulfilling than fanfiction. (Yes I used to write fanfiction, but atleast my stuff was generally GOOD.)

"Ivan" is a fairly common name, and using it as his username shows that he obviously has some connection with it (just as Hitogoroshi is a game character of mine.)

I must say that the Web-Net system sounds intriguing. Seeing how you work this out will definitely be interesting. Great teaser there!

Also, I'm a big sci-fi fan, so that's another plus, for sure.

Quick question. What relation is there between your game and "The God Gene" book written by Dean Hamer. Any?

no one thinks that. he can name his characters whatever he wants, just like you can name yours whatever you want.

Anything related to the book "The God Gene" can only be pure coincidental, as I have--honest to God--never read it or heard of it. Now, Isaac Asimov and Philip Dick's works are very influential to this game (and all my writing in general) as well as Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, the book Anne Rice wrote about Jesus, and the works of Kurt Vonnegut. But I've never read any Dean Hamer. Please say I have not unkowingly ripped him off...

No you aren't ripping off of his ideas, especially because you hadn't heard of him before. "The God Gene" isn't a novel. Hamer is a behavioral geneticist. Apparently, in that book he wrote on some of his findings about how humans are wired toward a belief in God. That's all I really know about it. There was an article about him in Time Magazine a few years ago. I just remembered seeing that title "The God Gene" before.
