Um, where can I buy system fans for my computer? And how expensive are they? My graphics card is overheating, so I need one or two.

http://www.newegg.com
http://www.overstock.com
I've done business with both, and both are fairly cheap.

Re: System Fans
As for prices anywhere from like $4 to $15, with shipping usually being around $2-5 each depending on how many you buy. The more expensive fans are usually just quieter while still giving comparable airflow. If just your graphics card is overheating, and you think you would be able to take off the heatsink and fan off of that, I would recommend getting some thermal compound to put on the GPU, Arctic Silver being the best. That's only $5 a tube and should lower the temp by at least 5 degrees C. Of course that's a lot more work and can void warranties and such.
One thing you need to make sure is to measure the diameter of your fan openings so you buy the right sized fan. Most case fans are either of the 80mm or 120mm variety. Also don't worry about LEDs, as they will usually go out within about 6 months, I think out of the 8 fans I have maybe 2 still work after a year or so (the LEDs , all the fans still work).
I prefer Newegg, but it's possible you could get a better deal somewhere else, but they usually have the best prices and deliver within 4 days of purchase. Plus they have really good return policies from the reviews I've seen. I haven't had to return anything to them as other than a PSU that came with my case no other computer part has failed on me.Last edited by thetruecoolness; 01-17-2007, 04:07 AM.

Re: System Fans
Cool, I just have one more question: what if the fan on my graphics card isn't working? (It seems to be turning as if something's sticking to it.) Is it possible to replace or fix it?"Those who want peace must prepare for war."

Re: System Fans
There may not be enough of a current going to your fan, or it could simply be burned out, some(like mine) can be connected to the "fan2" terminal on the motherboard, if you can you should try that and see what you come up with.
If that doesnt work you should be able to replace the fan, unless you dont see any screws or clips, in that case you're probably stuck with getting a new GCLast edited by JPS; 01-17-2007, 08:38 PM.

That could be the result of a bad solder connection somewhere. Maybe a soldering iron should be put to it.There may not be enough of a current going to your fanThe unnecessary felling of a tree, perhaps the growth of centuries, seems to me a crime little short of murder." ~ Thomas Jefferson

Re: System Fans
Well the other option is to look for VGA Cooling, which will typically have heatsinks and fans (or fanless systems) for Video Cards. Neweggs Selection of them.
If you see screws or some kind of clip just measure the size of the fan, and make sure the fan you get also has the same kind of power connector. Of course it could also just have some dust stuck in it so you could try taking the video card out (obviously while the computer is unplugged, and you need to touch the case to ground yourself). Then just use a damp cotton swab (normally the best for cleaning fans).
