Looking at the trailer again, I think the bluriness of the graphics is going to be its biggest downfall (not unlike RPGM2).
They did that on purpose. "Depth of field" or something like that. I'm not fond of the effect in most games but most of this game is from top-down so you should'nt even notice it.
All of the loading screens are cover art from famous Japanese games. I wonder if they're going to "Americanize" them with titles we're more familiar with?
Anyways, because I'm a retro nerd, here's the more obscure titles that aren't anglicized.
As irony would have it, I was not able to watch the video on the PS3's web browser, as there was not enough cache memory to support playing it.
I remember when this thread first appeared, but forgot or didn't realize it was From software that made it. And Atlus is now the publisher in NA. Is this gonna be the second part of a one-two punch from the dev/pub?
Reviews have been above average and sales positive. Not as positive as Demon's Souls (which also received the same lukewarm slightly-above-average reviews in Japan but sold like hot cakes) but still pretty positive for a game with a concept that's completely obscure even among Japanese developers.
Watching live streams and stuff has made the 6 month wait unbearable and I don't think I'll be able to keep from importing it. The game is literally Legend of Zelda with a traditional experience and statistics system. Your sword can also grow to GINORMO (lol) levels but only while you're at full health justs like how the sword in LoZ shot swords at full.
That's what Zelda's been missing since it went 3D. Sword shooting swords.
because you think borderlands is GOTY material olol
I think I would take Borderlands over this game any day...
The game looks horrible, and by that I don't just mean graphics, but the gameplay and everything just looks like a cheap way to milk money out of the consumers.

And people who have played the game, even the reviewer who said he never played the original Zeldas, enjoyed it. The game is MSRP 39.99 so it's not like they're charging you "new" prices and there's more content than most blockbusters.
If the resulting product is good then my purchase is justified.

Methinks you are missing the point. The graphics do not look horrible. It's a very unique stylistic choice, in keeping with the game's 8-bit theme. Think of it like this...Nintendo made Twilight Princess and made it "unique" by adding the ubiquitous waggle. Graphically, they made it "look good for a Wii game." Some people might not want a motion-controlled Zelda, nor a stylus-based one where Link rides boats and trains. Some people MIGHT want just an old-school Zelda game without digging out their NES or running the roms on their PC (or paying Nintendo to purchase via the VC). And as Nintendo is not supplying that, this game is doing so in a tongue-in-cheek way.
As for the graphics, in that review marcus linked to, the reviewer mentioned something about how deceivingly graphics-intensive the game actually is, so something tells me that the Wii wouldn't even be able to run this game, as "horrible" as it looks.
