    So, my computer came in today!

    Except, nobody was here to answer the door at the time, so they kept it and will try again Tuesday.

        Seems to be the front panel. The snaps that held the power switch in place...well, they snapped. The manufacturer has been notified.

            Okay, well, while I'm waiting for the new part, something I've noticed is that my new computer doesn't have the 9-pin COM port for using the Dex Drive. Well, I suppose it was only a matter of time.

            I know that there is a special USB device that allows you to connect those 9-pin thingies to a PC. How exactly does that work? Is there a special program you have to install? Is one brand better than another? And most importantly, does using the thing make the Dex Drive less likely to work? 'Cause I've rarely had problems working my Dex Drive while I still had a 9-pin port, and yet other people have had lots of problems, and I'm curious if that's a possible reason.

            Worst-case scenario, I'll be forced to use ePSXe when LPing RPGM1 games.


            By the way, as it turns out, my previous computer didn't last three years. My first one did, but this one only lasted two. I'm definately thinking it has something to do with heating. My first computer lasted a while but then started messing up when I started playing the hardware-intensive Second Life. Oh, and at first it was in an open-space desk, with no walls on it. My previous, I've had Second Life the whole time, and while the computer was more powerful, it was built with some basic parts like an integrated graphics card.

            Not taking chances with this one. First off, it was built with the best necessary equipment in mind (at least as far as running SL is concerned, as it's pretty much the only PC game I'll ever play). It also has several fans put in, including a fan that is essentially a built-in refridgeration unit. :P And I'm not putting it inside that cabinet of my desk.

                Okay, it's been 11 days since they said they were shipping the replacement part. I have officially lost my patience, and have sent them an angry e-mail.

                Also, I wasted $10 choosing overnight shipping on my serial device 'cause I thought it'd get here at the same time as the new part.

                    Actually, they did send an installation disk. But it probably didn't matter, as something else was probably skrewed up. It was a matter of luck just getting the monitor to recieve a signal.

                    So I sent the whole thing back to them, which is what I should've done in the first place. They got it fixed. I'm on my new comptuer now. It's awesome.

                    All my files have been restored. But as it turns out, the Windows Movie Maker files I had don't work on the newer WMM. Which is dumb. But it's an inconvenience at worst. I'll just have to re-edit the episode. At least I still have all the components.

                        Okay, guys, I'm drained. Partly because I've had so much trouble getting this ONE episode out. Partly because life is hectic right now. And partly because I've got other projects that need a lot of effort put into. That last one in particular is the reason I've decided to end the special editing I generally do in my LPs. It'd be nice if one of my projects was easy-peasy compared to everything else, and my LPs are it. So, Episode 1 of Let's Play "Whispers of the Woods" will be the last fancy-pants episode. Hopefully you guys won't mind. After all, the main idea is to give feedback on these games, not to impress people with my editing skills (which hasn't done much to garner extra attention, anyway).

                        Speaking of which, I've been on the fence whether to make Whispers my last LP or not. I've even considered whether just to stop right now. Well, eventually, this "show" of mine will have to come to an end, but I think this decision to do easier editing will allow me to get to the games in my queue a lot faster (some of which have been in there for quite some time). Probably I'll be able to go back to two uploads in a week. Three if I have the time. I'll go ahead and finish off the queue before I make the decision whether to end it there. Although, if anybody else wants to request something, feel free to. Even if I don't get to it, it'll be there if someone else wants to tackle it.

                        BTW, Valk, if I did hit three updates in a week, it wouldn't be too spammy for the front page, would it?

                          Well, do what you must. I was just getting to the point where I was watching every new episode coming out, so this is a little disappointing. Reduce your workload, have some more fun with it, and see if you can continue.

                          I loved the job you did with Donkey Kong, so when Josh's Adventure is nearly finished, I'd love to have an LP of it. Playtest or full, I'd love for you to play it. Even if you can't get it on video.

                            Nope. Update at whatever pace you're comfortable with.
