The story was horrendous and cliche, the characters were boring and flat, the world map was like running around on a Super Mario Brothers map with random battles, the Dragoon system was extraneous and pointless, the item limit was far too small, the random battles were far too common, the locations were generally uninteresting, there were random battles in places where there were also enemies for you to try and evade, the voice-acting (what there was of it) was atrocious, there were spots on the world map that you had to cross through again and again if you needed to backtrack for no reason whatsoever that it made you play through each time, I couldn't even tell you if the music was any good because I don't remember it.

Well, the Animaniacs game on the SNES did allow you to fight an Alien knockoff. That's moderately close.

Ditto for Mario RPG 2 and a U.S. release for Mother 3 (which is probably the best thing listed so far). Although why ask for another version of FF 12? The superior version of that game was released in America already. Three years before FF 12, in fact. It's called Knights of the Old Republic.

For those that don't mind playing Mother 3 on an emulator, there is a fully translated patch available. I bought myself a physical copy and put the patched rom on my psp. I know playing on an emulator isn't the same, but it's Better than not playing at all.

Vagrant Story 2... it's like a phantom limb, I can still feel where it ought to be.

Also, yeah, second on the Shadowrun, give the license to Rockstar and let them use Red Dead Redemption as a template.

I haven't hacked my PSP, and I probably won't, either. In general I'm just not big on emulators. I still might at some point, though, since they seem determined to never yield on bringing it over. It seems so strange to me; would the cost of translation really be so great that it couldn't be offset by even a limited release? I can understand not going big with it, it's the sequel to an ancient (by gaming standards) title that never had massive sales to begin with. A game to please only the hardcore on a system that, though not as bad as the Wii by half, still has a casual bent. But if it couldn't sell at least 50-75,000 copies, I'd eat my hat.

Although they could solve the sequel issue by also releasing the Mother 1/2 pack. Portable Earthbound would be almost as good as getting the sequel.

Purposely did not mention Shenmue 3, as that was the obvious answer for this topic, and left it for someone else.

As for Hrafn's comment about Gladius 2, yeah, I was talking more in terms of gameplay than story. For a console SRPG, I think the way combat worked has yet to be matched. Almost every other console SRPG is still working with slightly better than PS1 graphics.

It wasn't my favorite combat system ever, but it was definitely a good one. It's been a while, but I believe it was the Undead Summoner who was my favorite unit. Self-healing, basically able to ignore ranged attacks, always bringing in other bonebags to do his dirty work. I enjoyed going from city to city showing up the local riffraff. I just wish we'd been given a reason to actually cared who lived or died.

Multiplayer aspect was nice too, even if it wasn't much different than just passing a controller.

I'm referring more to the real-time aspect of it. Yeah, it's a grid-based SRPG, but with 3D character models (which doesn't help the gameplay, but helps the presentation immensely compared to other games in the genre), the rock-paper-scissors setup, and again, especially the real-time via the button presses/meters for actual combat put it well above any other SRPG out at the time on a console.

Might have to look up Gladius, based on the positive reaction here...

I want another Dokapon Kingdom game. My friends and I play the hell outta this game, and I want much more. This one, I think, has a better chance of coming around.

Others I want but likely won't get:

                        Mischief Makers 2
A new, GOOD Star Fox game
                        Gitaroo Man 2
                        A portable Punch Out game
                        A new Mystical Ninja game

                          How about RPGMaker 2.5??

Just an update of 2 for the PS3 with better draw distances, more VFX without slowing down to a crawl, and possibly something added to make people find it easier to use (but NOTHING taken away!). While we're dreaming - make the monster models available outside the battle system for cooler cutscenes and characters!

That one's SURE to Never happen!

                          MOO!

How about a proper ****in' sequel to Starfox 64.

                            Also Starcraft Ghost

                            Also Diddy Kong Racing 2!

                            AND A SILENT BOMBER REBOOT/REMAKE/SEQUEL I DON'T CARE
