RPG Maker 3 UI and Contruction Example Video

Hello. I'm back with my second video. This time, the viewer will be taken through the contruction process, from building towns to making storyteller scenes to scripting to creating monsters and so on.

The video does run 50 minutes in length, but that's really not such a long time, especially considering the complexity of creation.

Note: This video is an unedited version of the footage I collected. Thus, please do not post any remarks about how I mess up a couple of times (I cancel out by accident a few times). Also, I'm not trying to make you all run out and buy RPGM2, though you'll still find that I've plenty of negative things to say about some of RPGM3's features (and plenty of great things to say as well)

    Enjoy!

      CECIROTH!

Just post the topic in the RPGM General Section, you dont need to put it in the RPGM2 and RPGM3 sections.

People will see it, trust me.

Throughly enjoyed it. It reminded me how much I like RM3 and makes me want to get working on something. I mean I'm as frustrated with the limitations as everybody else but I love how easy and fast it is to create a game. Hopefully your RM2 video will help explain some of the stuff that just didn't make sense to me.

            Bump.

I did spend quite a while making this, so I don't want it to get lost. :-)

Actually you can see the descriptions in-game. Go to the Status Info in the menu and select the character then the item. Item models show up when you use them in battle. I just wish they would show up in the Status Info screen aswell :P

Gentlemen. I did not make this video as a perfect tutorial. I do not actually use this software anymore, as I'm sure I say within the film. Please do not continue to post messages concerning the errors I've made.

Maybe this should be merged with the one in the RM3 forum or vice versa, I commented in that one.

Re: RPG Maker 3 UI and Contruction Example Video

I got some time to watch this today, and again, I'm glad I did.

Ceciroth, you really did show a lot of different things in this video. The way you present yourself really comes across nicely. The words you use and the choice of expressions really make this easy to watch.

In an hour, you created a no-frills class, a character, a skill for that character, a house, a dungeon, a monster, and you started some basic gameplay. You didn't intend for this to be a tutorial, I know, but it did give a quick overview of a good variety of things. The only thing that I missed seeing was creation of a basic field.

I liked the little jokes you threw in now and then, and the unplanned cameo by your cat was funny.

I hadn't realized how frustrating it could be with the default being NO to save things as opposed to YES. I guess I always thought the RPG Maker 3 did that just in case you modified something without intending to, and having NO be the default would be safer. Now, though, I can see your point about how much more streamlined it is in 2 with YES being the default.

One thing you made me realize regarding RPG Maker 2 is the ability to have all of your skills in one bank that all characters and monsters can pull from. That really does sound like it makes more sense.

Good job. The next video regarding RPG Maker 2 is going to be one that I pay careful attention to. I haven't tried my hand at creation with RPG maker 2 in well over a year now. It might just inspire me to.

Thanks for your post, pagerron. I'll most likely make the RPGM2 video next week some time. I have to plan it pretty carefully ahead of time though, considering RPGM2s complexity. I'm thinking of actually making 2 RPGM2 vids - a UI and Construction process vid a la this video and another one in which I go through all the scripting commands and show how they can be used (Or at least all of those I understand... which is definetly not all.)

Look for it next week, Ladies and Gents. :-)

I've seen most of the first one (bed calls for me) and I have to post this inquiery before I go..How do you zoom out in the layout mode? It amazed me you could do this!

Other then that..so far it is good, but it would be nice to see a vid on RPGM3 that doesn't attack it...but maybe that's just me..

                            Edit - Oh...R3 L3...nevermind...
