    LOTR Fan Game?

    BIG QUESTION!

I'm thinking about making a game called Lord of the Rings:The Trilogy for RM3.
But can it be done? I mean it's almost possible. All I need is lots of research and the talent to improvise(Like how to make Golum and the Ring
Wraiths in non-combat/combat situations.).So is it possible?

As RPGM3 is all about adapting your ideas to fit within the limits, I wouldn't recomend it. Certainly, you can set your game in middle-earth, but try to port a story (especially one as epic as LOTR) and you'll invariably wind up short.

NO!!! FORGET WHAT hit SAID!!! Look, I'm sure that you're not the first person to want to make a halfway decent LOTR RPG. The sad fact of the mater is that nobody has really even been able to. Technically, all the characters that are preset are already matchups for LOTR characters (more or less) and its not like The Ring can't be an inscribed Ring or something, right? IMHO RPGM3 was made for you to create this game, my friend. It is your destiny to shape the course of history as we all know it and create such a beautiful thing that nobody can deny that you were the one that made it: moostly because it will have your name all over it...

The point I'm trying to make here is this: Yor idea rocks and follow your dreams and don't let anybody tell you that what you're doing is wrong! LIke me and my repetitive use of the word and in that summary...

Look, I won't lie to you: it IS a massive undertaking and prolly not gonna come out perfect but there's no reason not to try for it, right? In fact, no matter how crappy it comes out, unless someone makes a better one (not likely) then nobody can really criticize you at all. AND I don't care how awful it may be, I know that I WILL play it and I know that I WILL enjoy it because my entire life I've been trying to find a decent LOTR game and I can't truly say that I have.

Something made with ...any of the RMs would give you a (slight) edge because you didn't sell you game based on the fact that you too can play through the movie before it hits theaters and whatnot. I think that you should totally do this thang, and I will be behind you to offer encouragement 110%!!!

Being honest and blunt, I think you should come up with your own idea. If you want something so epic, you know you can do it on your own, and it's much more rewarding in the end.

People will say, "Oh! Look, an RPG.." rather then..."Not ANOTHER LOTR Spinoff..."

I agree with Libra. I don't really want to play the Zelda games people make with RPGM, nor does a LOTR RPGM game interest me. Others might be huge LOTR fans and think it's the best idea ever to make one for RPGM, but it's meh for me.

Then again, the same can be said of games like "Okay, so you're a clown, right? And you have to take out an entire instalation of martial rabbits and your only ally is a giant frog and some little girl..."

Look, maybe I'm playing Devil's Advocate here, but an idea is really an idea and its not like it can't be done (which WAS the question) and just because of lack of interest does that mean that it shouldn't be done? I mean, it really your game so other people can't tell you what you should do with it, only what they'd like see done. In that respect, why didn't they do it themselves?

I'm angry with that overall idea (of you should do this and not that) so I'm making a game based around the idea of going shopping and getting stuck in an attack from corporate mogols. NO, its not the best idea ever and I'm like 85% of the way through it already, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop making it. Besides, if only one other person likes what your doing and actually finds some joy in what you've created isn't that what counts? I doubt Leonardo or Michalangelo would ever have asked anyone "Should I make a prominent Biblical figure nude and vulnerable or armed to the teeth because he's God?" Great things come from unassuming packages.

(Just in case you couldn't tell: I'm supporting the idea...)

If you read the post a bit closer, the words "I THINK.." make a whole big diffrence. It's an opinion, and we are just stating it, not telling him what to do.

                    Re: LOTR Fan Game?

Itd be interesting, but the massive amounts of memory it would take to create such a game just isnt there, if you tried to put the entire trilogy in one game, id say no it probably wont happen, but having 3 different games for each part is probably a lot more feasible(and interesting)

Im not much into LOTR but I do like RPG's, if you make this game I will play it

How about an LOTR game that's similar to LOTR:The Third Age, but with a feature that changes the story based on your moral actions?

I havent made a game like this, and frankly with RPGM3 Im kinda scared to....lol plus it adds a whole different kind of complication to the game however it is possible but you need a lot of planning to pull it off

I do love games with alternate storylines though

                            Here's an idea!

                            The aftermath of LOTR:

After the destruction of the One Ring, the realm of Middle Earth is still in turmoil, but this time by another fiend.
Arogon must rescue his wife, Arwin and other fair maidens from a mysterious wizard who has the fragments of an all-to-familliar ring in which he must remake using the souls of the maidens. Can Arogon rescue the 8 maidens before tragedy hits him and the world?

                            So what do ya think?

See, thats much better. Write your own story, and the RPG will be much better as a result of it.
