    Games we "Need"?

For all of you people who are looking for a game idea, here are a few who haven't been used yet:

The Lord of the Rings series (Including The Hobbit)

A pirate based game (I thought someone WAS making one but it still hasn't came out...)

A futuristic game (I believe Lausen WAS making one. I don't know if hes gonna finish it though...)

An imitation MMORPG. (For example the player can pick their name and class and appearance. And name some of the NPC things like: "N00Bguy1" and "1337dude3") (Note: This game would just be something comical as a kinda joke. Although you could take it far and make it a very good game)

Anyways feel free to make some games like these because there aren't any YET. I will probably make all these games (Starting with The Hobbit) but of course I wont mind if someone else beats me to it.

Oh and you can also suggest a game for me to add to the list.

I believe the God Gene has my game beat for futuristic, but we'll see. One of my contest maps is the last map in my game. I hope that it sets a new bar for what people do. You'll see screens soon after the contest.

Also I think people haven't made these kind of games because it limits them even further. I mean a pirate game without ships. WTF! Lord of the Rings you have to follow the books/movie with little freedom. I guess if you want to spend your time making on there's nothing wrong with that. I wish you luck.

Well first thing, I did mention that you were making a futuristic game.

Second thing, you could probably make a pirate game using RPG Maker 2 or RPG Maker XP because you can design your own buildings. (You could make one that is like a ship)

Third thing, when I make my Lord of the Rings games I do plan on having them strictly follow the books. I am sort of a hardcore fan myself so I wanted to make them since it seems nobody else has... I will at least make a "The Hobbit" demo and see how it turns out...

And last but not least, I will add that we still need an imitation MMORPG. (Just as a comical game)

I always wanted to make a game like Uncharted Waters New Horizons. Unfortunately I lack the skills in rm2 to do so.

Not for nothing, as I know I've said this to other people with the same "original" idea as you just had: If you think that such a game would be a good idea, make it yourself!

Not for nothing, aside from RM3 vast/numerous limitations, and although I could almost agree with some of your points, the problem is twofold:

          1) Making a game (LotR) that requires more than 4 members in a party get iffy at best, adn a game spanning as much area/events/time is almost just not feasible to do, espically with the consol makers.

          2) People are making their own ideas into games.

Now, if you find that neither of those two points seem valid to you, then you my "friend" are going to be the one who finally makes that LotR game that everyone's been "wanting" since the book was made into three movies...

(good luck making it, by the way)

You forget Ivan just talks big about his game, I notice whenever someone has a good idea Ivan jumps in and said hes already used something similar in his game...

I like to do that too, but at least I've never talked about a "game I'm making" for more than 2-3 hours or so...

                Re: Games we "Need"?

oddly enough a lot of those games have been made but their title/description doesnt explain what they are about. i am not sure if rpg maker 3 is the best platform to make these types of games (no platform is good for a lord of the rings game, make something original dammit!). though ive seen a lot of innovation that overcame these obstacles. rpg maker 1 has these games if you really want to play more pirate/futuristic/imitation style games, maybe even rpg maker 2 has them i am not sure. why not try to make one of these games yourself?

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!
Card Three is released! You can find it here!

Depending on how the demo of the dark tower goes, my next game Im almost positive will be for RPGM1

I've actually wanted to make a psuedo-MMO ever since RM1 days. I just couldn't think of a good way to go about it. The fact that I'd only ever played one MMO (Everquest Online Adventures on PS2) didn't help. Actually now that I've gotten into playing a couple free MMOs the idea appeals to me again but as anybody will tell you. I can come up with great ideas but I never end up producing anything.

                      Re: Games we "Need"?

I've played the (dot)Hack games, those are fake-MMO games and are alot of fun. There is a bit of dungeon crawling, but the storyline is the most important part.

I think that an LotR game would be best set in a time period not covered by the trilogy OR the Hobbit. Perhaps talk about Balin's attempt to control Moria? Or about Turin Turambar, a human captain with an extremely tragic story (read The Silmarilion and/or The Unfinished Tales to learn about him) and it involves Glaurung the Golden, Father of the Dragons. That story goes so far back, it deals with Sauron's master, Morgoth.

I like the fake-MMO idea best, because you could do a story no one will know anything about. You could throw in all kinds of fun twists

Hmmm... I think you guys are right... I will probably make an imitation MMORPG. (Does that sound good to you?)

By the way, don't freak out you guys I did say I was planning on making these games I just posted this because not many games like this are out...

I think the next game I will get is RPG Maker XP because it has a lot of customizeability, looks like a classic RPG (Gameboy Graphics), isn't as complicated as RPG Maker 2, and looks nicer than RPG Maker 1.

Didnt you just get this game? If I were you Id make something small and simple at first(maybe a few of them) to get an idea of what the game can and cant do...dont want to start this epic game with no knowledge and learn as you go.

I already made a few basic games. Of course I didn't download them though... And besides it's not like I plan on popping this game out right away! I'll probably take at least like a year... (Well that's just a guess. How long does a big game usually take anyways?)

                              oh ok

I dont know how long a big game takes, depends on how much time you spend on it and your level of knowledge, Id say a big well developed one probably 300-500+ hours, including all the planning and what-not
