EA created Adventure Maker for the C64 and Apple IIe computers back in the day. Adventure Maker was an Action RPG maker and it was pretty good for the time. It event had a feature that would create games for you! The maker just took random stuff from the databases and put them together so you'd have some weird looking maps and events in places that didn't make sense sometimes, but the games was always playable.

You could save your game on a floppy disk and share it with anyone else with the game. I guess the game didn't sell very well or EA would have their own RPG Maker-like series for the PC.

The Crown of Order demo is here.

        I must be truly weird:

But... I have been thinking for quite some time now of remaking PONG on RPGM2 (like Jugem did with Tetris).

But on to the topic at hand. I recall wondering why anybody would want a file transfer device for their Playstation back in the day.

        Now I know!

        Peace.

        MOO!

The dex drive was sorta made for RPGMaker. They both made the other valuable. The pavilion made it all come together. Sure you could create a game. Sure you could upload it onto a website. But the pavilion created a forum where people could access and download your game and where you could play other people's games. It made everyone here so excited to be able to create something and have other folks interested in it. It was also a place where you could share ideas and get help with the software.

i should probably mention before now i've never been even interested in the pavillion. my old home was the gamefaqs RPG Maker message board. but that's a pitiful shell of it's former self so i decided to check out here.

haven't been in like five years. just seeing what was left of it and i knew the release of two alone would have killed it.

According to the Dex Drive box, a big deal about it was transferring stuff between EA games (stats, teams, stuff like that). I mean, there's a big sticker on there advertising the option. And didn't the DexDrive go out of production soon after RPGM1's release?

i think so. i don't think anyone was buying them.

least not until people discovered RPG Maker.

the Dex Drive was discontinued in june of 2000, just months before RPG Maker 1's release.

They went back into production for a little while in 2001, although it wasnt a really big run. I think they went back into production because of RPGM1.

that'd kinda make sense, i guess. the dex drives seemed almost specifically tailored with RPG Maker in mind. of course we know that's not the case.
