exactly.

I know how you feel. I had a ton of great ideas, but I don't know if they're plausible with RPG Maker 3. I don't have the game yet, but when I do get it, I'll check out how it works and see just what kind of variety I have in terms of characters and world creation. Those two parts are the heart of the games you can make as it somewhat defines what kind of story you can make with it.
It may be limiting, but I think it will be easy to get around them.
Re: The official "I've got RPGMAker 3" thread.
some projects are just a bit too ambitious for the current RPG Maker. it's been that way since the beginning and will continue to be so until they get the core formula absolutely perfect. one of my games may be a bit too much for 3 as well but i'm not gonna let a $60 game go to waste.

I mean people can use it, and probably make some cool games. But don't expect to make anything that doesn't have anything to do with a medieval/samarai theme to it.
That's just the thing though. There is not much that you can adapt.

Re: The official "I've got RPGMAker 3" thread.
I was going to actually do a SIM with it myself, though it was kinda going to be a bit different. If, by some way, I can make the head place look the way i want it to, then I'll try using this to make it. No guarantees.
Re: The official "I've got RPGMAker 3" thread.
The only thing I'm disappointed in is that apparently you can't have characters talk through events while staying in 3D. It's not the end of the world, but I was hoping to create cutscenes that were the same gameplay. I might just be missing something, but so far, I can't see another way to do cut scenes between action.
Re: The official "I've got RPGMAker 3" thread.
If you'd have asked me an hour ago my reaction to RM3 was: Rather Disappointed. But now it's: This is so cool! What changed my mind? I just threw together a quick character with one spell, a winding cave maze dungeon, a freakishly ugly field, and a little bit of a town with one house and a puppy in front of it. Did all this in minutes and it was easy and fun. My favorite parts have been the class and dungeon editor. You can make a lot of choices as to the fighting ablilites of your character's class. I loved the skill editor, it was like RM2's except without making your own VFX (which I'm not any good at anyway). And the dungeon editor is just plain cool. I just drew some curvy lines and BAM! it turned into a very cool cave maze which I instantly got lost in. Oh and I also made a monster party with the Hellminion. That's without a doubt my favorite monster.
BTW, it seems that quite a few of the character models have a color option that looks like a super hero (even some with eye masks) and also most have an evil-looking color for those who wanted more playable monster models. For instance, Thief Color Opiton 3 looks like a goblin. And Warrior Color Option 3 looks like a zombie.
