Ok, unless Valk decides to delay the contest deadline for submissions by a few more weeks, I won't be able to submit my epic RPG Plasma Dreams. I still want to enter the contest, so I thought a puzzle game might be better to create. I'm looking for a good name, but for now it's called Crystal Panic. Here's the skinny.
Basically, you'll start out on a 5x7 grid. A random colored object will come floating down and you'll be able to move it left, right and down to descend faster. I'm thinking the rule for scoring should be grouping 3 objects of the same color in a pattern(haven't figured out which patterns yet) to clear the said objects. Now, the twist here is that there will be a bar at the side, I'm calling it the chaos bar. Now, I picked that name because as your opponent(I'm gonna try and see if I can implement some good AI) scores, your chaos bar will fill.
Every 40 or so seconds, a "chaos shift" will occur. Depending on how full your bar is, multiple randomly selected placed objects on the grid will turn black(unscorable on their own). If you haven't figured it out already, a full bar will basically mean 1/4-1/3 of your field will be unscorable every so often, which is bad if you can't score. You'll be able to get rid of them by placing a cyan object on the unscorable objects, these will come by rarely though.
What do you guys think? Any suggestions/criticism are welcome. I'm gonna pull over 10 hours to try and finish this before Sunday.
