Re: Let's Play (With Draygone) Ep62 - Rough Road to Freedom

-You didn't give any ammo to Max! He has weapons too! I guess since you have Giga Volt, you don't think you need Max's weapons. Hmph.

-The vine boss was apparently cut from this version of the game, unless there's a way to reach it on an earlier card. It's not a huge loss, as the story sequences surrounding it didn't really clarify anything story-wise.

-It's a glitch. I remember using the Astral skill while playtesting, so I'm not sure what the problem is. It's not really necessary for beating the game, however. Again, this is a problem that might've been addressed if someone had mentioned it many years back.

-The etchings on the wall have some significance to story developments not yet reached in this game's storyline. The world might never know of their actual meaning. The author was probably insane. Yes, I mean me.

-The shack by the beach is supposed to be a vastly eroded bathroom.

You should be proud of what happens in this LPisode. IMO, this game's defining moment.

Actually, I wasn't even aware Max had any weapons. I never checked. :P

Let's Play "The Spiteful Dead" Ep21 - Unrest

We make it through the capital square. But our accomplishment comes at a dire price, as we lose one of our friends. At least the cutscene was awesome.

        Q & A Segment:

Dray: "What does the Bigmouth Bass do in battle?"
Xis: "Bigmouth Bass confuses enemies with its singing. Get yours today!"

Dray: "When did Max get a gun?"
Xis: "He has four. See previous post."

Dray: "He[Max]'s got an old man mouth."
        Xis: "I agree."

        Dray: "Azuli?"
Xis: "Xis2005 was emperor of the Azuli people in ancient times, back when the Azulis were a world power. He himself is an Azuli."

Dray: "Did I mention I like this game?"
        Xis: ^.^

So I'm editing what is supposed to be the last episode of "The Spiteful Dead", and looking at how long it is... yeah, going to have to be split into two parts.

...Well, skew that. It's the finale, darnit. So I'll make it a special occasion, and upload both halves at the same time. The two-part finale goes up Monday!

                De-layed!

The last episode is taking a whole lot longer than I anticipated. It's the final review that's killing the most time. It probably won't be done today, but I'll be sure to post it the moment it's ready.

Okie-dokie, finally got that done, and man, am I exhausted.

So here's the last two episodes of the LP.

Let's Play "The Spiteful Dead" Ep64 - The End Days

After some WTF, Mates?, we finally make it to the Belize International Airport, just in time to hop on the rescue chopper. But with the nuclear missle drawing near, can they get off the island in time?

Let's Play "The Spiteful Dead" Ep65 - The End Days, part II

Our heroes are caught in a difficult struggle against the final bosses. Whether our heroes can win or not, there's trouble on the horizon: a war is about to break out.

With that, the LP comes to a close, and I give my final review.

Re: Let's Play (With Draygone) - The Spiteful Dead Finale

                    Episode 22A:
The lengthy dialogue is all being told by Everik. Should have made that clearer. He mentions being 'awakened.' This is because only now, as of this monologue, he is aware of his existence as an immortal soul.

The talk about Gods and Goddesses is only metaphor... isn't it?

Everik wants Robert & co. to kill him, so that he does not have to live in a human body any longer. He does not see suicide as an alternative. Might have tried to make his insanity even more clear. This is why his actions often make little sense. His death may or may have not have the result he was looking for, however. He acts like he knows a lot, but he's more fallible than he'd like to admit.

It's possible to win this battle against Everik. Your prize for winning is nothing, aside from being awesome, and having the skies of heaven open up to you so that you can jump into the arms of God and be forever saved. (in real life of course. Has no effect on this game.) Enjoy eternal bliss. It's much better than some stupid "happy" ending.

I made it so you could see the ending even if you lost, because I wanted to make the end battle difficult, but I didn't want to make it so the player would miss out on the ending because they just gave up. An unsatisfactory compromise, but probably the best end result for an RPGM game. It's an achievement if the end-product is actually playable.

                    Episode 22B-C:
F5 - A mercenary company that has been around for a few centuries, all the way back to the "Demon Crusades Era." It's led by a man called Vernon Dwoin. This is the same mercenary company from a previous RPGM game I never completed, which took place in a medieval setting.

I remember not really wanting Nasagi to die without any sense of closure, but it seemed the most appropriate given the circumstances. She can only force herself on other people, and cannot co-exist with anyone on a normal human level. If I were to create a character like this now, I would place more of her vulnerability "under the skin," and portray her as more of a professional. Also, considerably less emotional, and her motives would be more linked to her job rather than her own whims.

It's not a novel--it's a game. I now feel a lot differently about the amount of meandering text in the game than I did in the past. One day I'd like to write a novel with some real social value, but I still don't think I'm good enough to put anything into print. Maybe I'll fail, but I know I'll try.

                    Episode 23A:
I wouldn't put such a transparent political message in any project in the future. This game was started in mid-2001, and finished mid-2002, right when everyone was making a big fuss about wanting to ivade Iraq. The scene with the president was a last-minute decision. It seems rather trite from a literary perspective, but it's interesting that a 15 year old would have had such misgivings about what was to come (and still is going on) considering so many adults were cowed in. It's a much more complicated issue than this game pretends to make it seem, though, and I don't really want this to become a discussion about foreign policy. Anyway, I wouldn't ever put forth such a blatant political message in anything like this in the future, because it distracts from the actual game, and is probably off-putting to others.

Endings, like life, are not always pleasant, and often have no closure.

                    Episode 23B:

Having taken the time to beat the final boss, you can see the amount of time and effort I put into making it a (not impossible) challenge. Thank you.

Dray - "The Oracle" has been imprinted upon your DNA, and will ensure that even when your corpse is exhumed by extra-terrestrials 5,036 years from now, they will know of your accomplishments and be in awe.

I always thought about a sequel, but never got past the planning phase. Spent four years planning several different possible iterations. Learned a lot, but ended up with little more than notes and sketches. There seemed to be very little interest in anything I shared with the pavilion. I moved on.

I don't know who Terodus was, but I used his tank & car sprite. Thank you, Terodus.

                    Episode 23C:
You wouldn't believe how difficult it was to astral project into that stuffed animal. Sorry if the human hand growing out of my back was off-putting.

Yes, I actually answered those questions for the interview.

                    Ramblings:

Life is an illusion. Life is pain. Life is illusory pain.

The suffering of mankind is self-inflicted, and simultaneously the result of the actions of gods.

Old World. One. Goddess Amalya. One soul.

New World. Three. Three Gods. Alexis, Arron, Azule. Three civilizations. Fae, Human, Azuni. Three souls. Nasagi, Everik, Xisthruos.

                    Outer World.

This is probably it for me, and I won't be posting for a long while. Keep an eye out for anything that might reference The Spiteful Dead. It could be on the internet, written in the sky, or encoded into the trunk of a 400 thousand year old tree. In your next hamburger. My body may die, but my presence will forever scar this earth. I will persist.

                        Oops.

Didn't mean to make it sound like I was going to ride off into the sunset before committing suicide. I haven't vacated my creepy enclosure within the pavilion's attic. You'll hear from me again someday, maybe sooner than I made it sound.

my favorite part of this set of videos was the bag outtakes at the end. probably not what you wanted to hear, but yeah.
