Had some people test play the demo (no one at the pavilion. the one person from here I wanted to test play it doesnt post anymore).

Got lots of feedback, and I'm addressing some of the more valid negative things they had to say with some changes.

most of it was negative, by the way.

no combat, and just building up the characters in the demo was apparently a "waste of time", and other things. One person was under the impression that since Lucid had armor on, that he was going to kill things. he doesnt, so lucid was labeled as a "lame piece of ****". also, a pedophile.

Yeah, I don't know who the **** my audience is with this. myself?

Did you playtest it with people who understood the basis of the game to begin with? I've been all about a plot/character-centric game, which is why I've been looking forward to your demo. Maybe I'd have liked it more?

I don't know who your audience was for that, but they just made me facepalm.

If you explained the game beforehand and they still said that, then WTF.

Well, if the playtesters were non-pavilionites, they may not know any of the background info.

They were given all the background information. Dunno if they read it.

I had 7 testers, 5 were from non-RPGM forums I go to, and 2 are offline friends.

I chose them because I wanted to see how the game would be seen by people outside our community.

My thoughts? Usually this forum seems to be rather unbiased and truthfully honest when responding to topics about RPG ideas in the development forum.

Status report!

I have about a fourth of the sprites fixed now.

But you know how I keep going back and changing stuff?

in a bigger way than I have previously.

Lucid and Megan's story previously only took maybe 3-4 hours to play through, despite the massive time sink this game has been.

I've gone back and changed their story. nothing is removed, but what was there before has been moved around. The area the game covers has been expanded greatly. The city that the characters meet Raya in has been moved, the area where Lucid and Megan meet Erica has been moved. The maps themselves are largely unchanged, but they're now much further apart. I'm spacing everything out. Adding on to the existing story and events.

Things just felt too forced before. a lot of big things were happening in this really small area, and it just seemed too improbable. the game's pace suffered too.

I'm getting pretty tired of announcing delays, but like I've said before, I don't want to have any regrets about this. I want to know I did everything I wanted to, everything I felt I needed to.

So how big are the new additions going to be? The game will probably triple in size. Some of that stuff will be optional. Luckily, I have a massive pile of assets made for this world, and I won't actually have to create much new stuff. but maps have to be made, dialog has to be written, characters have to be thought up and named, events have to be made, and some sprites will have to be made.

I'm sorry I'm horrible about this. I had the same problem with Legend of Pants. That game did get finished, but it's never been released (due to content). This won't share it's fate. This thing will be released, in it's entirety, eventually.

I'll try and get the demo released soon. Given the sheer number of "journal entries" that exist from the game's introduction, I could actually release one every now and then as a demo type thing while I work on the full game. I may do this depending on the reaction from the first one I release.

Congrats on making it this far, and remember that by now you've proven you can make something really good; now it's about making it everything you dreamed of. Have fun with it!

No. Because of my position in the community, I can't release it at all. the content is so objectionable that there'd be some serious fallout for this site.
