Re: LEVEL UP -Bush's PSU Thread

Online's a joke. They have everything on the disc, but they take forever to update so people can actually use the hidden content. They make such a big deal about "ZOMG! Updates! New weapons that look the same as what you already have!" There's really not much content to keep you around.

You're better off unlocking the Extra mode which let's you create a character offline. You then party with characters from the offline story, although the A.I. is insanely stupid.

The offline story is kinda dull, but it's separated into chapters,so it's easy to know what you're supposed to be doing since each mission is basically point A to point B and fight a boss.

    I suggest renting first.

*Edit* Now I'm curious, who still plays this for PS2 and PC?

What killed the game for me was that it was hacked in less than 2 months of its US release, completely destroying the whole economy.

I wasn't a big fan of having to carry 6 different weapons, either.

It couldn't have been as bad as when FFXI had gilsellers. That's what I call a devastation of an economy. I've been there. I've seen it. I've had to pay the price.

Seemed about the same to me, except I was able to profit from it ingame. PC players could add all the money they wanted, and PS2 users (me) took advantage by selling items at extremely high prices which the PC people went and bought all up.

I dunno about the 360 version, though, but without the option of having any real updates, there's really nothing worth looking forward to. Replaying the same exact level again and again, plus at a certain point it's just nothing but grinding levels.

And even though it's an action RPG, it still forces you to play by their random stats. You could make a direct hit on an enemy, but the stats will randomly determine whether is was a strong attack, weak, or did 0 damage.

Basically don't waste your money every month to play online. Offline, do what you like.

I reactivated to see what all the news was about, and I'm having fun. No expansion yet (plan on renting it from work to test out) but I like the changes. Money drops a LOT easier now from monsters at least. (Since I quit in like, March?)

            Everyone cancelled it seems?
            Keep the change.

Only person I know that was still playing before I quit was Nix. I gave her ALL my junk and money.

And not sure how the PS2 version is gonna handle people with just the normal copy, and the expansion since it doesn't use the HDD. Maybe separate servers? The 360 expansion is up for download, but requires the PSU disc to play, I assume it's just like any other MMORPG where people with expansions can still play and show off armor/items to people without the expansion.

Course it would really be irritating if all the expansion items were just hidden on the regular PSU disc, and the update just unlocks that content.

That'd be pretty funny if like, 3 expansions worth of data was locked on the disc.
