... Whether I like it or not, I have to get a PS3.

I'm going to ramble a bit.

After all the things sony has done to anger me, like slaughtering my favorite video game import site, I had declared that I would NEVER buy a PS3. But I just realized I'm going to need a PS3 because of the RPG Maker Pavilion.

We don't know what system the next RPG Maker is going to be for. I am pretty sure I know, but its not for certain yet, and there's no guarantee that if one doesnt show up on the PS3 first, that one won't come along later. I cannot be stuck without a system that the next RPG Maker may find it's way to.

There's other things that are going to be very important to do with this site when the PS3 is released. Someone has to test the max drive on it, and even if the max drive works, someone has to convert every single RPG Maker 1, 2 and 3 file on this site to whatever format the PS3's virtual memory cards use. Doing this will ensure that people just won't need file transfer devices anymore, and can freely download RPG Maker games straight to their system. I also like the idea of having every single RPG Maker game ever released on my system at one time as well.

... the things I do for this community. *sigh*

Jeroak, if you're reading this, which I'm sure you are (while laughing), say something, ANYTHING that will somehow make this seem like a good thing to me. If anyone can make me like the damn thing, I'm sure its you.

EDIT: Arg! I just realized the PS3 won't be compatible with RPGM1 games that use more than one card(example: one system, two scenario, and one art card)! the virtual memory card system only allows for two memory cards to be loaded, and thus does not allow card-swapping!

Well, I was gonna say that at least you don't have to worry about buying a PS3 until the RPGM comes out on PS3 (if it does). But then you brought up testing/converting game saves. Isn't somebody here gonna get a PS3 at launch that could do that for you?

Sucks about RPGM1 games potentially becoming unplayable on PS3, though. You better make sure anybody who has interest in playing or making RPGM1 games on PS3 know this. Don't want anybody trading in their PS2 and finding out they can't play those RPGM1 games anymore.

Oh, I know. I'm going to make sure everyone in the community knows this. It does cut down on the amount of games that will have to be converted though.

as for waiting, yeah. I could wait. but who knows what my financial situation will be like at that time, and if I would even be able to save up for one in time for release after I find out about such a title. it's best to get it out of the way as soon as possible. I start saving now, I can buy one around january and be worry-free.

If you really don't want one, I think you could find a way to make due without. Think about everyone in the history of the Pavilion who's volunteered to take screenshots, upload games, review games, etc. Surely you could find a couple people willing to convert games into the new memory card format, especially if you set everything up to streamline the process for them.

And is that 2 memory card restriction definite? Why in the world would Sony not put forth some effort to overcome such an artificial limitation.

No other game aside from RPGM1 has ever been able to use more than two memory cards at a time, so its understandable why sony wouldnt bother to allow you to have more than two virtual memory cards loaded at any one time.

I know I could find people to convert games quite easily. But it's best to be prepared in case an RPG Maker pops up on it during a time that I cant afford to get one. I wouldnt even be considering this unless I had reason to believe that an RPG Maker may actually appear on the system.

Well, eventually, everybody's going to own a PS3 anyway. It's inevitable.

They're already starting to run ads on it as we speak.

Not me, NEVER. I don't care if the next 100 RPGM games are on it. I have an huge hate for Sony right now. If they somhow covince me that the PS3 is a must-have I still won't buy it. I'd rather get 40 neo-geos right now, than 1 PS3.

                          /endrant

Sucks for you Valk. But at least it's not like you HAVE to get one right away.

If Sony convinces me that it's a company isn't arrogent and all around mean, then I may think about it.

There is a big difference between convincing me that it is a MUST BUY and convincing me that Sony is a GOOD COMPANY.

Plus I don't have the cash to buy 6 of them like some people.
