Interest in an MMORPG is fine. Just be careful and don't let it consume your time. And even if you try not to let it, it probably will anyway.
Well, BZ. I'd say your first step is to try a demo version of each game. Then if you enjoy it, you can convert to the actual game itself.
I tend to be a WoW junkie myself, mainly because it has alot of options in it. You can solo quest, PvP (PLayer vs. Player) either in the outside world or specific Battlegrounds, go on instance (dungeon) runs and the endgame itself is nice as well. Gaining Epic gear is takes alot of time and investment, but is great when you finally get them. Oh and the mounts are fun as well.
Alot of pavvies play WoW, CoH and FFXI, so whatever you choose, I'm sure you can find someone who can help you out in learning the ropes. Hit me up on AIM as well if you like.

AKA You want to give hours and hours away to play a game with real people who have no life just like you? AKA WoW
WoW being the greatest of these, it's your best bet. I'm picking up my copy today actually...but the expansion comes out really soon so IDK if I should wait...but WHAT EVER.
No don't wait for the expansion. It seems like they keep adding more and more. Who knows ehen they'll release it. It should however be one sweet expansion. I'm definetly rolling a Blood ELf Mage.
I hope some of the upcoming console MMOs are good. I have a craptop that can't play games and I generally dislike keyboard/mouse anyway so I'd prefer a console one. If I had a fat PS2 I'd have probably bought the HDD for FF11. The new console MMOs are all coming out late 07/08 though, it looks like. Well, PSU is coming out soon.
