Werent they also saying that even though its a $599.99, if people really want it they shouldnt worry about price and just fork over an entire paycheck, or a few paychecks for one?
I've actually come to terms with the PS3 price. Once I got past the sticker shock I realized the $500 one has about the same components as the Premium 360 but with Blu-Ray. (I'm talking included peripherals here not processor/GPU power cause all that tech talk confuzzles me.) Add the probably $100 HD-DVD addon to the 360 and they're an even match except the 360's games will still be on regular DVDs. Now stick on a $100 wireless adapter and the 360's up to premium PS3 price but without the card slots, HDMI port, and most importantly 3 times the hard drive space. So when you look at it that way the PS3 really is a good deal. Now if they'd just announce more than one exclusive game I want I'd be on board.
Why would you even want HD discs or blu ray? Who really cares about movies on those formats?
All the movies I want/own/have are on DVD and Id rather not buy them again.
Because as technology advances it gets cheaper. I don't know about you, but I don't want to back to BETA VIDEO (although beta was actually a better format than VHS). My dad's favorite music are on his a-track but does that mean cd's shouldn't have been developed?
Besides, blu-ray holds much more storage. Instead of having "star wars massive 30 dvd box set," you have "star wars, 2 blu-ray box set."

I agree. I said the same thing in the "Will you buy PS3?" thread. I was just pointing out that comparing the components of 360 & PS3 the price isn't bad at all. It's just the sticker shock of seeing $599.99 on a video game console. I'd be all over the PS3 if they just gave me a reason to want one. MGS4 just isn't enough for me against the handful of 360 exclusives I really want.

That costs as much as the old set did.
Just because they can cram it on less discs doesn't mean they'll charge less for it. Although at this point Star Wars is pure profit, so that's not the best example.
Oh, also, hybrid HD-DVD/Blu Ray players should be available by the end of the year. So if HD is really the reason you want a PS3, you should look at the eventual hybrid players and see if it'll be more economic to get one of those rather than get a system that will exclude HD-DVD entirely.
I could care less about extra storage for DVD-videos. So what if the movie and special features are on separate disks? But when it comes to video games, regular DVDs just can't hold a whole lot when the game consists of millions of polygons per model.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

There's an enduring rumor that Sony has refused to grant any company a Blu-Ray license if they make a hybrid. If you pay attention, while quite a few companies say that they have created hybrids, not one has announced that they'll be releasing them, and in fact have only made comments to suggest that they won't, at least for a long while.
