Re: Will my bf be able to play Wii?

Well, I really have some faith that you'll be able to sit close to the tv considering the target audience (kids), but the reports have me being a little skeptical.

And King from Tekken has aroung 70 moves, I'm pretty sure the rest of the roster has similar lists. That's really not important though, it's just that Smash Bros. got boring real quickly for me. I don't try to dislike games, I really don't, I really wish I liked it as much as everyone else does.

I had a couple that frequented a mall I used to work at. To be honest, it was a little eerie.

I'm more of a DOA, Soul Cal, and Smash Bros kind of guy. I like fast, fluid, and intuitive fighting games. I never liked Tekken, I always thought it was slow stiff ass garbage.

What, are you afraid we'll take over the world?

Well, half of it was because I couldn't tell if it was a guy or girl. The other half was the whole "no pigment" thing.

Well, since the Wiimote interfaces with the sensor bar and not the TV it stands to reason you could put the bar farther back. For instance, rather than being 10 feet from the TV you could be 2 feet from the TV with the sensor 8 feet away from it and the Wii really wouldn't know any better. I assume there's some kind of calibration to synch up the sensor with the TV position so you'd just have to recalibrate. Of course I could be all wrong because I haven't used a Wii but it makes sense at least, doesn't it?

I personally liked the simple movesets of Smash Bros. I could never memorize the button combinations in normal fighting games, instead having to resort to pressing random buttons and hoping I do something right (though I at least know the difference between kicks and punches and grabs in those).

But yeah, Smash Bros. is too much of a different type of fighting game to be compared to normal fighters. It's like comparing Mario Kart to Need for Speed.

As for the sensor deal, I'm pretty sure the sensor has to be at the TV in order to know the exact angle. Put the sensor furthur back, and you won't have to tilt the Revmote very far in order to move the cursor.

                    FORGET j00 ALL, Tekken r0xx0rs my b0xx0rs.

I never liked the overly simplistic games like Dead or Alive. I mean yeah, they're fun to play with other people(especially your little cousins, since they can be a challenge thanks to the simple mechanics), but they're boring after a while.

SSBM is a different story though, because there can be so much going on at once.

Sounds like you can't cheat the way you used to with the NES Zapper...
Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.

Some reports are already saying no...UK based Arena Magazine said that "you need the on-screen gaming area to be as large as possible to properly read your body's graceful movements." I hope that's not true.
To say that should not be close to the TV is actually to say that you should not be close to the SENSOR BAR. So, you can trick the whole system by actually installing the sensor bar further behind the TV, instead of merely below. Because of this change, you may then need to configure the Wii to think that the TV is larger than it really is. I'm pretty sure it can be done, although setting it up can be a bit tricky. I'm already looking forward to the results of this...

I still say you'll be able to sit with the Wii controller anywhere within the permiter of the sensor bar's range. Does a TV remote worry about where you're hitting the channel button? I mean, as long as you're in front of the TV and there's nothing blocking the infrared. But the Revmote is different. It tracks where it is in relation to the TV (okay, the sensor bar, but still essentially the TV). If you're furthur than the TV, you don't have to tilt it very far to get the cursor to the side of the screen. If you're sitting on top of the TV, well, you don't even have to tilt it to move the cursor, instead just move the whole controller across the screen. It'll know the controller is touching the screen if you have it set up right (thus Zapper-cheating is probably possible, unless they specifically code it so you can't cheat like that).

                          That's my theory, anyway.

Kire, I think that he will have to try it out a store or somthing first before he buys it. The fact that we dont know how the final product will work you. Everyone, however fustrating will have to wait...

You really don't have to move the controller far anyway.

Look at this video. Just flicking his wrist has the same effect as doing a full baseball bat swing. Which I think is a good thing because that way you can really get into it and swing around the room like a drunken monkey or you can stay in your seat and move your hand casually.
