Wiimote is a total ripoff of...

    DREAMCAST! Who'da thunk it.

While looking through some old console prototypes over the weekend, I stumbled across what is described as a prototype controller for the Dreamcast. It looks remarkably similar to the Nintendo Wiimote, with a trigger on the bottom, buttons on top and wireless technology. All that's missing is the Nun-chuk attachment.

They even had a light-gun attachment. Also see top right of first pic.

I don't really think Nintendo copied. They probably didn't even know about this prototype, I'm sure few people anywhere did. And like the article says it's possible some of the same people designed both. That seems pluasible given Sega's no longer makes hardware. Those people are working somewhere, right? Still it's suprising and funny. I guess there really isn't anything new under the sun.

Probably not as much if Sony wasn't a wise guy about its PS2.
