    Re: FFX-2

Final Fantasy 9 ruled the PSX IMO. It had everything I wanted in a FF. It goes back to the roots of FF instead of the current FF's that are coming (exception of FF3). The hero actually was happy instead of gloomy (Cloud, Squall) or just plain horrible (Tidus). And it had the best characters, who couldn't love the little black mage Vivi, or the bumbling knight, Adelbert Steiner? And Quina was just plain funny.

Every FF game except 10 and 10-2, I have enjoyed wholeheartedly. But those two story-wise were just horrible and too set on a teenage mind setting. They had the teenage thing right with FF8.

FFX-2 probably had the most enjoyable combat system in the FF series, IMO. Other than that, it was very disapointing. Is it just me or did it seem at times Rikku got a little too FRIENDLY with her cousin Yuna....

FFX-2's story was just a dead-end. At the end of the day, what was accomplished or revealed or... new? Sure the graphics are terrific and the gameplay's actually pretty good but the story and writing was bland, childish or unnecessary. I'm not against the whole sequel idea but I wish they actually took the whole bright pop bubblegum feel of the game even further. I would've liked to have seen something much more over-the-top, something akin to Cutie Honey, Space Channel 5 or Powerpuff Girl's brand of light-heartedness and ridiculous girl power.

Something like FFX-2's intro movie except... more.

However, I did not want to be caught playing the game during one of those incompetent dialogue scenes. Imagine how embarrassing that would be.

FFX-2 makes soooooo much sense after you've been to Japan. I used to wonder why it was all girly and everything but in the context of Japanese guys it's actually very macho.

FFX's gameplay was indeed top notch. It was just everything else was lacking.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I'm with Gloomy, the character designs in FFX, X-2 were a bit too I dunno, attention grabby or something.

As for the linearness of the game, I think that helped add scope to the whole thing but it definatly should've have all been a straight line

I still say FFX is the best Finaly Fantasy game yet and one of my own personal favorite games of all time. I really can't find anything wrong with it, not saying it's perfect, but there's nothing in the game that really ****** me off.

What REALLY upset me in FFX, more than the unnatural dialogue, was the resolution to Yuna's story arc, and the ending in general.

And the health/magic replenishing at save points.

And all of the stupid characters.

                    And blitzball.

What kind of characters would you like to see in a Final Fantasy?

And please, no glib "HOW ABOUT ONES THAT AREN'T JAPANESE DRAG QUEENS LOL" answers.

                        Yeah, blitzball sucked ass.

Yuna shoul've died at the end or if they were going to make Tidus die then they should've made him at least really DIE not just cease to exist, but then exist again in the second one or whatever the hell they were doing.

Come to think of it, what the hell happened to Tidus? I understand that he was like a dream or whatever, but why did he have to leave then and not a few hours ago?

If you talk to Shiva, she lays it all out. Apparently no one but me went back to get free stuff from the Aeons.

As far as I could tell, Tidus still went into some sorta afterlife. He had to in order to see Braska and give Jecht a five.

So, what exactly was wrong with the ending? I mean besides "Final Fantasy" not being a prominent piece in the ending like it has been in almost every other main Final Fantasy game and the absolutely vauge clip after the credits.

The problem I had with the ending is that it was a very small ending for such a big story.

If I recall correctly, doesn't it end with Tidus and Yuna hugging for a little while on the airship, but then seconds later he jumps off, gives Jecht the most hilarious high-five ever, and then the end?

I aslo would've liked to know what happened to all the characters after that, but then again when I played FFX-2 I was very 'meh' to what happened to the world.

No, there was a speech. A neverending, anticlimactic, boring speech. And probably that other stuff too.
