    Info from the Nintendo meeting

    Summary by Jonnyram from GA
    DS part:
    http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/200...54485,0,0.html

    Stats (for Japan):
32% of DS owners bought Animal Crossing
    23% Mario Kart
    14% Tetris
    20% New Super Mario Bros
10 titles have shipped a million now, quite a feat.

Opera will be delayed a month... coming out in July now.

The Oneseg TV tuner will go on sale in Autumn and will cost "approximately half the price of the DS hardware" = ~8400 yen.

Nintendo aims to continue the Touch Generations series, with the balance between "non-games" and games being very important to them. Seems they want to get more non-gamers into games gradually - the above stats seem to indicate such a motion.

Pokemon will have wi-fi worldwide voicechat.

    Wii part:
    http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/200...54492,0,0.html

Shipping 4 million by the end of the year (worldwide)
Pokemon Battle Revolution will be out a few months after Pearl/Diamond and will link with the DS game.

New games (not just the emulated stuff) on Virtual Console could also be 500-1000 yen.

    Main DS-Wii connectivity will be:
    - touch-screen controller
    - Wii = DS station, like the shop kiosks
    - DS games can be expanded via Wii

    Pokemon Wii:

Pokémon looks nice. Hopefully it will also be online.

Great find! I may be interested in a Pokemon game for the first time ever. That's a good price for NEW Virtual Console games, I'm still hoping the classics will cost less as I've made a large list of older games I want to replay.

Edit: Some time ago I was learning Japanese but dropped it... time to learn again, I suppose.

Who needs Omega Boost when you have online Pokemon games?

Did anyone else hear that Smash Bros, once again, will not be online?

Nope. But Sakurai, whom was answering fan questions, mentioned that it will be worked on after dealing with everything else, since they're totally reworking everyone. Due to technical issues, it won't have a leaderboard.

what do you mean "once again"? are you actually upset that either the n64 version or the "released 5 years ago" gc version didn't have online play?

                      cause if you are...wow.

I think the "once again" thing was put in because he was peeved they didn't add it in on the Gamecube version.

Not so much, moreso for ignoring internet play for the Gamecube cuz they said it was a "fad"...but their loss. Either way, I don't even like the game that much, I'm more of a Tekken guy anyway.

Re: Info from the Nintendo meeting

It's every other developer's fault also. On online mutliplayer console games, they didn't bother putting the online mode in the GameCube version. I know that the broadband adaptor wasn't supported very much, but it's not entirely Nintendo's fault that it wasn't.

And Brawl had better have online mode. And a good one. In other words, I don't want to be randomly placed with elite or wimpy players. I want to go into a room where other people are, and choose whether to play with them or not.

I assume broadband is fast enough for fighting games. I can't help but notice that there is a small lag when playing Mario Kart DS. Which makes it a bit trickier figuring out where to aim, since they're probably a few feet ahead in reality, and they'll gain another few feet by the time they recieve info that my shell has been shot. Smash Bros. (and fighting games in general) have a pretty large focus on split-second timing, and lag could ruin that.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Odd, I never have any lag problems with Mario Kart. could just be your connection.
